Five gold coins, one shared promise: this investor package combines five specimens of the Gold Krugerrand from the 2026 year of issue in the sought-after Reverse Proof finish. This is a genuine rarity, as each of these coins comes from a mintage of only 500 pieces. As an exclusive collector's coin, this bundle is aimed at connoisseurs seeking the extraordinary – and who, due to the strict limitation, should not hesitate for long.

Reverse Proof and Proof – the special appeal

What creates this exquisite effect? In the classic Proof minting quality, the background shines with a mirror finish while the design appears matte. With Reverse Proof, this principle is exactly reversed: the design itself emerges with a mirror-bright finish, while the background remains finely matte. This gives the proud springbok and the striking portrait of Paul Kruger a plastic depth that truly comes alive in the light. This elaborate PP processing, combined with the very low mintage, makes up the special appeal of this edition. Each of the five coins measures 27.07 mm in diameter and weighs half a troy ounce of fine gold.

A design that has remained unchanged since 1967 – here in one of the finest minting variants the Krugerrand has ever seen.

Design and history of the Krugerrand

The obverse shows Paul Kruger, President of the South African Republic from 1882 to 1902, designed by engraver Otto Schultz. The reverse bears the springbok, South Africa's national animal, designed by sculptor Coert Steynberg. The coin's name combines the statesman Paul Kruger with the rand, South Africa's legal tender since 1961. First minted on 3 July 1967, the Krugerrand was the world's first modern bullion coin and dominated around 90 percent of the global gold coin market around 1980.

Material and processing

  1. The Krugerrand is made of 22-carat gold with a fineness of 916.67/1,000.
  2. The remaining share is copper – this gives the coin its characteristic reddish-gold color and makes it more durable.
  3. The coin is produced by the renowned South African Mint together with the Rand Refinery.

Why this set is so attractive for collectors

Fractional Krugerrand editions in collector quality traditionally appear in significantly smaller quantities than the bullion variants. A limited mintage of just 500 specimens makes this 1/2 oz edition a sought-after position, present fivefold in this set. It is precisely the combination of low mintage, exquisite Reverse Proof appearance, and the worldwide recognition of the Krugerrand design that underlies the high appreciation potential among collectors. Anyone building a collection with purpose or seeking an extraordinary gift will find a package with character here.

Gold – a proven store of value for millennia

Beyond its collector value, the pure material value remains a solid foundation. Gold is the oldest currency in the world and has been a reliable store of value for over 6,000 years; it has intrinsic value and has never been worth zero. People have always valued the precious metal as an inflation hedge and as crisis protection, while the big brother of the smaller silver enjoys high liquidity worldwide. A pleasant side effect: investment gold is exempt from VAT, and profits from its sale are generally tax-free after a holding period of at least one year. Thus, this set combines numismatic appeal with the durability of a precious metal that retains its shine for generations.
