From the rock

Its skeleton is the most complete of a theropod found in Australia.

It was found near Winton in Queensland. Tyrannosaurus rex also belongs to the theropods.

No human has ever seen this animal alive: the age of the dinosaurs ended 66 million years ago, and the human genus has existed for about 2.8 million years.

Der Name des Dinosauriers von einst lässt sich auf seinen damaligen Lebensraum zurückschließen. So wundert es bei dem Namen nicht, dass der Australovenator auf der Fläche des heutigen Australiens beheimatet war. Hier lebte er vor 112-100 Millionen von Jahren und ist damit in die späte Unterkreidezeit einzuordnen. Der Fleischfresser brachte es bis auf eine Körperhöhe von 2,50m und wog bis zu einer halben Tonne. Was seine Körperlänge betrifft, bestätigen Funde eine Länge von sechs Metern.

✔ Bestätigte Funde von Spitzen-Prädatoren in Down-Under

Es gibt zahlreiche, archäologische Funde, die die Existenz des Spitzen-Prädatoren nachweislich bestätigen. Den Rekonstruktionen seines Körperbaus und seiner damaligen Umgebung jagte er vor allem mittelgroße Sauropoden. Um sich fortzupflanzen war er kein lebendgebärender Dinosaurier, sondern legte Eier. Bis heute konnte ein unvollständiger Australovenator gefunden werden. Als wichtigster Fundort gilt daher die Winton Formation nahe der Queensland Station. Neben der vorliegenden Silbermünze wurde auch die 1/10 Unze Gold Australovenator 2022 geprägt.
