1 oz Silver Shimmering Chameleon 2026 – A Riot of Color in a Mintage of Just 100 Pieces

  • Exclusive: You can only obtain this coveted special edition from Kettner Edelmetalle – you will search in vain for it in the open market.
  • Strictly limited: The issue comprises only 100 pieces worldwide – a truly tiny mintage, as is rarely seen in the field of design coins.
  • Rarity: An extremely rare collector's coin that instantly electrifies lovers of colorized animal designs.
  • High-quality finishing: The coin is given a colorful design in several technical work steps and additionally partially plated with gold.
  • Design: A chameleon in shimmering rainbow colors climbs over a moss-covered branch – framed by vines, orchids and bromeliads, while the sun breaks through the rainforest behind it. The reverse shows two of the color-changers together in tropical branches.
  • Material & fineness: A full ounce of silver in top fineness of 999.9/1,000, i.e. 31.1 grams fine weight – a silver coin cannot get any finer than this.
  • Investment target: A collector's coin whose tiny mintage makes it a collector's item with significant appreciation potential.
  • Growth opportunities: Very high appreciation potential due to the minimal mintage and the traditionally high demand for finished designs.
  • Manufacturer: Kettner Edelmetalle – additionally finished afterwards in Germany.
  • Country of origin: Germany. The base coin is issued with a face value of 20 dollars for Liberia.

Hardly any animal symbolizes change and adaptation as vividly as the chameleon. This very interplay of light, color and perspective is taken up by the 2026 vintage novelty – and translated into a coin that you would love to turn under every light source.

The design: a play of colors in the tropical thicket

Turquoise, magenta, lime green, a hint of violet: the chameleon on the obverse carries practically the entire spectrum on its scales. Every single scale is rendered as a fine point of color, the curled tail tip forms a perfect spiral, and the long tongue reaches into the image. A wreath of branches, blossoms and leaves winds around it – a frame that makes the design look like a window into the jungle. Around the edge you can read the inscription "1 OZ 9999 FINE SILVER 2026". On the reverse, two chameleons meet on opposing branches, next to the face value of 20 dollars. The series Animals of the Land gathers exactly such issues: powerful, vividly colored animal designs on finished fine silver, alongside the White Lion, the Black Panther or the White Elephant.

The finishing: craftsmanship at collector level

After minting in Germany, the base coin is further processed by a specialized company – exclusively for Kettner Edelmetalle. Several techniques are used: a multi-layered color finishing that renders even the smallest details, such as eye rings and petals, with sharp precision, and a partial gold plating that emphasizes the rim, the edge reeding and the lettering. The result is partially gilded, colorized and achieves a depth effect that a classic bullion coin cannot offer. Every work step is carried out with calm, craftsman-like precision. Important to know: the manufacturer's specification refers to the coin itself, not to the subsequent processing.

Mintage of 100: why tiny mintages excite collectors

Common bullion coins are issued in mintages of millions. Here, however, it is a mintage of just 100 pieces – fewer than the number of members in many collector associations. Such limitations ensure that once a piece is sold out, it practically only changes hands via the collector's market. This is exactly where the appreciation potential of this rarity comes from: low mintage, high visibility of the design, a growing collector community. Those completing the series thematically also enjoy the appeal of placing several issues with identical design language side by side.

Silver – the collector's metal for millennia

For centuries, silver served as a coinage metal and was regarded in many cultures as a sign of wealth and prestige. It is durable, retains its physical properties and is traded worldwide as a raw material – not least because of demand from the electronics, solar and medical technology industries. Because supply is limited, buyers also appreciate the white metal as an inflation hedge and as a building block for crisis protection. With this piece, however, the collector's value clearly takes center stage. A pleasant side effect: profits from the sale of silver are generally tax-free, provided the minimum holding period of one year is observed.
