The design: rock, pine and a look full of composure

The design side shows a powerful billy goat in profile, its long coat chiselled in the finest lines, its curved horns swept far back. It stands firmly on rugged rock. The "P" mint mark of the mint and the designer's initials are discreetly embedded in the design.

The value side shows King Charles III facing left. The inscription reads "CHARLES III AUSTRALIA", below which are the specifications: 1/4 oz, 9999 Au and the face value of 25 dollars. Since the 2025 year of issue, the Lunar gold coins have carried this portrait – previously Queen Elizabeth II was depicted.

The Gold Lunar Series III – twelve years, twelve animals

The Perth Mint's Australian Lunar series is among the most renowned coin families in the world. Series I ran from 1996 to 2007, Series II followed until 2019, and the current cycle spans 2020 to 2031. After the Mouse, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake and Horse, it is now the Goat's turn. Each lunar year brings a new design – collectors complete a full zodiac cycle piece by piece.

The bullion editions are minted according to demand; the mint usually announces the final mintage figures for the smaller units only after the series has concluded.
