When the mists roll in at the end of October and hollowed-out pumpkins glow in the windows, the time of witches begins. The Halloween Witch 2026 captures exactly this moment. It carries a face value of 20 dollars of the Republic of Liberia. Its true appeal, however, lies elsewhere: in a vividly colored design on both sides and in a mintage that could hardly be smaller. Among silver coins with a Halloween theme, it is therefore a true rarity.

✔ Two Sides Full of Halloween Magic

The design on the side bearing the denomination "20 DOLLARS" shows a witch racing past on her broomstick in front of the huge, glowing green full moon. Bats accompany her flight through shimmering violet clouds. Below, a Victorian haunted house sits enthroned on a hill, its windows glowing in warm orange – surrounded by wrought-iron fences, stone pillars, and gnarled trees. Thick green mist creeps up the steps. And at their base? Two carved jack-o'-lanterns grinning cheekily into the night. At the lower edge sits the small coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia.

The reverse side is even a touch more eerie. In a mist-shrouded cemetery with gravestones and a stone Celtic cross stands a seductively smiling witch with a pointed hat, long black hair, and a tattered violet robe. In one hand she holds her broom, while a small magic spark dances above the other. Facing her, a skeleton pushes itself up out of the disturbed earth and reaches out its bony hand toward her, as if inviting her to a ghostly party. In the foreground on the right, a jack-o'-lantern glows amid tangled vines. The inscription "1 OZ 9999 FINE SILVER 2026" follows the rim.

✔ Gold and Color: The Finishing in Detail

What sets this silver coin apart from ordinary Halloween editions is its elaborate finishing. Each piece is finished in Germany by a specialized partner company exclusively for Kettner Edelmetalle. A brilliant color print in toxic green, violet, and pumpkin orange fills nearly the entire surface on both sides. Added to this is the golden shine: the reeded edge and the lettering are gilded, framing the nocturnal scenes like an elegant picture frame. The result is a piece that truly seems to glow in the light.

A witch, a skeleton, a haunted house, and two full moons – on a diameter of just 40 mm, this coin tells an entire Halloween night's story.

✔ Why 100 Pieces Mean So Much

In the collector's market, a simple rule applies: the smaller the mintage, the more coveted the individual piece. With a mintage of only 100 pieces, simply not every interested collector will get their hands on one. By comparison: the colorized American Eagle Halloween editions from 2024 were each issued in mintages of 2,024 pieces – more than twenty times as many. Even Kettner's 2025 Halloween edition was already limited to 100 pieces. The Witch 2026 continues this tradition and elevates it to a new level with its two-sided design.

It is precisely this limitation that makes it so appealing. A very low mintage, a seasonal cult theme with a worldwide fan base, and careful finishing: this combination is what gives rise to the value appreciation potential that collectors prize in editions like this one.

✔ What Collectors Should Know

  1. Strengths: Extremely small mintage, full-surface colorization on both sides, gilded edge and lettering, delivered in a capsule.
  2. Pricing: The price is determined by the collector's value, not solely by the metal content. Anyone looking for pure investment silver at the daily spot price is better served by classic bullion coins such as the Maple Leaf or the Britannia.
  3. Care: The color and gold layer are more sensitive than bare metal. It is best to keep the coin in its capsule and only touch it by the edge.

✔ Precious Metal as a Solid Foundation

Beneath the color and gold lies a full ounce of fine silver. Silver has accompanied humanity for thousands of years as a coinage and monetary metal, has been used as a means of payment in countless cultures, and retains its physical properties across generations. Demand from electronics, solar, and medical technology underscores its intrinsic value. Many also value this white precious metal as a building block for inflation hedging and crisis protection – however, with this edition, the joy of collecting is clearly front and center. A pleasant side effect: in Germany, profits from the sale of silver by private individuals are generally tax-free after a holding period of at least one year.
