Seven structures that around 100 million people worldwide voted for – on seven coins made of pure silver. That is exactly what this set achieves: it brings the landmarks from the Andes to Northern China into the collector's display case, each on its own one troy ounce issue. And because the mintage ends at just 50 pieces, allocation is tight from the very start.

The seven wonders of the world – design by design

Each coin bears one of the seven landmarks in high relief, framed by a deep blue ring with country-typical ornaments and the inscription "WONDER OF THE WORLD". The second side is identically designed on all seven issues: a globe at the center, encircled by seven gold-shimmering medallions and the legend "ONE WORLD · SEVEN WONDERS".

  1. Machu Picchu, the Inca city in the Peruvian Andes
  2. Petra, the rock-cut city carved into reddish sandstone in Jordan
  3. The Great Wall of China
  4. The Taj Mahal in Agra
  5. Christ the Redeemer above Rio de Janeiro
  6. Chichén Itzá on the Mexican Yucatán peninsula
  7. The Colosseum in Rome – the only European landmark on the list

The list traces back to the public vote of the New7Wonders Foundation from 2007, which contrasted the historical seven wonders of the world of antiquity with modern masterpieces still preserved today. A theme, then, that is understood across national borders – and one that has accompanied collectors for years.

Finishing: colorized, partially gilded, Proof quality

After leaving the mint, the coins are further processed in Germany exclusively for Kettner Edelmetalle. The color finishing sets marble white, blue and warm red tones against the gilded surfaces of the structures, lettering and edge settings. The result looks less like a classic bullion coin and more like a miniature relief. The mirror shine of the Proof finish calls for gloves – fingerprints are unforgiving on such surfaces.

Why silver is so attractive to collectors

Silver has accompanied humanity for millennia as a coinage metal and was, in many cultures, a symbol of wealth and prestige. Profits from the sale of silver coins are generally tax-free in Germany, provided the minimum holding period of one year is observed. In addition, there is real substance: silver is in strong industrial demand – electronics, solar technology and medical technology consume it continuously – while supply remains limited. The white metal is durable, tradable worldwide as a commodity and highly liquid. Many customers also value it as an inflation hedge and as crisis protection. With this set, however, the collector's character clearly takes center stage.

Compared to other sets

Regular bullion coins such as the Krugerrand, Maple Leaf or Britannia are issued in mintages of millions – their price follows almost exclusively the silver price. Colorized themed sets typically range from 500 to 2,000 pieces. A rarity with a mintage of only 50 pieces plays in a different league: here, availability is what counts. The downside of such a narrow issue is market breadth – buyers and sellers find each other within a specialized circle. The advantage: whoever owns a complete set holds a piece that hardly anyone else can acquire.

Seven wonders of the world, seven coins, 50 sets. Anyone who collects knows how quickly such numbers become history.

The set is delivered in a high-quality case, the inner lid of which shows a world map with the location of each wonder of the world – tidy, presentation-ready and thus also a gift that makes an impression. Product presentation may differ from the final product.
