Heimerle + Meule · Pforzheim
Gold with a face value.
It began with the dust of the workshops.
Jewellery has been made in Pforzheim since the 18th century. Wherever there is filing, sawing and polishing, precious metal falls to the floor as fine dust and ends up in the sweepings.
The entrepreneur Julius Dittler founds a sweepings works, a “Kehretsanstalt”, to recover precious metal from production waste.
1845
This is the year the story of Heimerle + Meule begins. To this day, the date appears in the mark of the house.
Inside the works
From scrap to bar.

The scrap
Jewellery, coins, cutlery, dental gold and industrial residues: from these, the house recovers precious metal today.

The pour
Gold melts at 1,064 degrees Celsius, silver at 962 degrees. The melter pours the molten metal from the crucible into the mould.

The bar
At the end comes the finished bar, bearing its weight and fineness. According to the company, the fine metals used are produced in its own refinery.
A house that carries on.

1945
In ruins
On 23 February an air raid destroys Pforzheim’s town centre. The company’s building is also lost in the war. Afterwards, it makes a fresh start in the premises of a jewellery and watch factory.
1977
The Brötzinger Tal
The company moves out of the town centre to the Brötzinger Tal, a valley that had been filled in after the war, partly with the rubble of the old town. Its headquarters have been there ever since.
2010
Bars for investors
Heimerle + Meule launches its investment products division. Today, bars, boxes and cards for investors are part of its range.
2014
Good Delivery
On 3 June the London Bullion Market Association admits the company to its Good Delivery List, the register of recognised gold refiners. It has remained on the list since that day.

MALTA CoinBars
The Maltese cross.
The small bar bears the Maltese cross, its fineness and weight, the lettering Malta, the year 2026 and a face value in euros: 3 euros on the one-gram gold bar, 1.50 euros on the half-gram gold bar, 15 euro cents on the one-gram silver bar.
According to Heimerle + Meule, the coin bars are issued under licence from the Central Bank of Malta.
On the bar
What the marks say.
- 999.9
- The fineness in parts per thousand: out of 1,000 parts, 999.9 are pure gold.
- 1845
- The caster. Since 1933 he has been the emblem of the house. In the round stamp, he stands above the year 1845.
- melter assayer
- The one who melts the metal and the one who tests it. Next to these words stands the mark of the house.
- HEIMERLE + MEULE
- The company has borne this name since the second half of the 19th century.
From dust came a name.
Made to last.
The idea of the sweepings works lives on, too: recovering and refining precious metal has been the heart of the house since its founding.

Discover the 5 x 1g Gold Heimerle und Meule Malta minted bars from the UnityBar series – a product that combines the highest purity and quality with real crisis utility. Produced by the oldest refinery in the world, Heimerle und Meule from Baden-Württemberg, these five individual 1g gold bars stand for tradition, trust and security. Gold has been a stable and proven store of value for over 6,000 years – an optimal medium of exchange for almost any situation in life. However small the individual pieces may be, each one carries the promise of a precious metal that has outlasted every currency in history.
Minted bars instead of classic bars – the best of both worlds
Bars bearing a coin stamp are referred to as minted bars. At first glance, these angular pieces look like a conventional bar – however, due to the imprinted face value of 3 euros, they attain the status of a coin. Each bar displays the iconic Maltese cross as well as the inscription "MALTA", making it official legal tender in the issuing country, Malta. Classic investment bars do not have this special legal status – a subtle but appealing difference for collectors and investors alike. The five pieces are delivered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition as new goods in an elegant coin card including a certificate of authenticity.
The concept of the UnityBar by Heimerle und Meule is convincing thanks to its flexibility: unlike a CombiBar, you don't need to bend or break anything here. The precisely shaped individual bars, each weighing one gram, can be cleanly removed, given away individually, exchanged, or sold again as needed. This way, you remain able to act at any time – gram by gram.
Why small denominations are so valuable
Small denominations in gold and silver are among the most popular products for various emergency situations at home or abroad. They can be easily carried in a wallet while traveling without drawing attention, providing both security and discretion. Those who want to keep their wealth broad and divisible often combine gold with silver – the big brother gold and the little brother silver complement each other excellently. Especially in uncertain times, it is a reassuring feeling to own five manageable units instead of a single large bar, which you can use as needed.
Gold – proven protection against inflation and crisis
Gold has intrinsic value and has never been worth zero. As an inflation hedge, the precious metal retains its value, while fiat money remains vulnerable to loss of purchasing power due to central banks' printing presses. It is no coincidence that central banks themselves are the largest holders of gold in the world – a clear sign that even the guardians of paper money rely on the stability of gold. On top of that, there is a double tax advantage: gold is exempt from VAT, and profits from its sale are generally tax-free in Germany after a holding period of at least one year.
Gold is the oldest currency in the world – it has shone for millennia and will not lose its shine in the future either.
High liquidity, worldwide tradability and a limited supply make gold a cornerstone for long-term value preservation. It can be converted back into cash at any time and is equally suitable for passing wealth down through generations. The divisible Malta minted bars bring exactly these strengths into a particularly everyday-friendly format.
