Bitcoin 2026, 1 ounce of gold, obverse

Bitcoin’s creator himself took gold as the comparison: in 2008 in the white paper, in 2010 on a forum. Here the Bitcoin sign stands on one ounce of fine gold, in a mintage of 99 pieces.

On the obverse

Four words around the sign

In the centre stands the Bitcoin sign. The arc around it reads DECENTRALIZED • BITCOIN • DIGITAL • PEER TO PEER, below it stand the weight, the metal and BTC, the abbreviation of the unit in the Bitcoin software.

Bitcoin’s early texts use the same words. Satoshi Nakamoto called the system decentralised, with no server and no central authority, when he released the first software in January 2009.

Bitcoin’s white paper of 2008 describes an electronic coin as a chain of digital signatures. Peer-to-peer, from participant to participant, is already in its title.

The comparison with gold miners

The Bitcoin white paper, announced on 31 October 2008, compares the steady addition of new coins with gold miners:

“… analogous to gold miners expending resources to add gold to circulation. In our case, it is CPU time and electricity that is expended.”

Bitcoin white paper, section 6, “Incentive”

The same section explains why new coins come about this way: there is no central authority that issues them. The World Gold Council calls gold “no one’s liability”: it is not a promise that someone else has to keep.

3 January 2009

A newspaper line in the first block

Bitcoin writes its entries into blocks that form a chain. The first block holds a line from a newspaper:

“The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks”

A forum post, 2010

As scarce as gold

On 27 August 2010, Satoshi Nakamoto posted a thought experiment on a forum, with gold as the measure of scarcity:

“As a thought experiment, imagine there was a base metal as scarce as gold …”

Satoshi Nakamoto, bitcointalk.org forum, 27 August 2010

By “scarce” he only means a limited potential supply, as he explains in the post.

He had named the supply of Bitcoin in 2009: 21 million coins in total. The smallest unit is called a satoshi, one hundred-millionth of a bitcoin.

The World Gold Council describes gold itself as scarce. The mintage of this piece is fixed: 99 pieces.

A medal in copper

Bullion, not bits

One medal in our range bears BULLION NOT BITS above a pair of scales. Bullion means gold or silver in bars, a bit is the smallest unit of information in a computer: bars, not bits.

Or, as we put it:

Gold is the real crypto.

Crypto comes from the Greek kryptós, meaning hidden.

In both quoted passages, gold is the comparison: for the effort of the gold miners and for the measure of scarcity. This piece brings the sign into metal that you hold in your hand.

Two Worlds, One Gleam: Bitcoin Meets Gold

Imagine holding two eras in your hands at the same time. In one half: the precious metal that has accompanied humanity for over 6,000 years – solid, honest, incorruptible. In the other: the symbol of a new era, a digital phenomenon that has shaken up the financial world like almost nothing before it. It is precisely this fascinating bridge between worlds that makes the 1 oz Gold Bitcoin 2026 one of the most exciting collector's pieces of the year.

"Gold is the oldest currency in the world – Bitcoin aims to be the newest. Whoever unites both worlds holds history in their hands."

A Design That Gets Under Your Skin

Even the first glance at the coin draws a quiet sense of wonder from every numismatist. The large, stylised "B" – recognised worldwide as the symbol of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin – sits majestically atop a finely engraved circuit board structure. Intricate circuit traces, microchips and circuits wind across the entire surface, creating an interplay of deep, satin-matte black and mirror-bright gold sections. The inscription "BITCOIN · DIGITAL · PEER TO PEER · DECENTRALIZED" frames the design and underscores the character of this extraordinary collector's coin.

On the value side, you will find the face value of 500 Dollars, embedded in a square chip design, flanked by the coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia and the year of issue 2026. A composition that inspires both technically and artistically.

Proof – When Every Detail Counts

The coin was produced to the highest numismatic quality standard: Proof. This means mirror-polished fields, frostily shimmering reliefs and a precision that brings even the smallest circuit detail to the fore. Hold the coin up to the light and experience how black and gold unite in a veritable dance.

Only 99 Pieces Worldwide – This Is Not Rare, This Is a Sensation

Anyone familiar with collector's mintings knows: mintages below 1,000 pieces are already unusual. A mintage of just 99 pieces, however, is a true exception. This exclusive character makes the Bitcoin gold coin 2026 a highly sought-after piece for connoisseurs who know what they want – and who need to act quickly, as such mintings are, in our experience, sold out fast.

  • Worldwide limited to just 99 pieces – each individual coin a small treasure for collectors
  • Tax-free under §25c UStG – physical investment gold benefits from the VAT exemption
  • Profits from the sale are generally tax-free after a 12-month holding period
  • 1 oz fine gold (31.1 g) at 999.9/1,000 – the highest purity the market has to offer

Who Is This Coin Made For?

This minting is aimed at all those who see in gold coins not merely a piece of precious metal, but a piece of the zeitgeist. At collectors who love thematic cohesion and are inspired by the symbolism of modern phenomena. At enthusiasts who know: an extremely low mintage is the DNA of every coveted rarity. And finally, at all those looking for an extraordinary gift idea that leaves a lasting impression.

Gold – The Timeless Companion

Even though this coin bears a modern design: at its core, it remains what gold has been for millennia – a proven store of value with intrinsic worth. While paper currencies come and go, the yellow precious metal has outlasted every era. It was a means of payment in ancient Egypt, shaped international trade along the Silk Road, and formed the foundation of the global gold standard in the 19th and 20th centuries. Today, the world's central banks hold thousands of tonnes of it in their vaults – a clear signal of trust. Even though the primary focus of this minting is clearly on its collector's value, you automatically benefit from all those properties that make gold a solid inflation hedge and a quiet crisis protection.

The combination of Proof quality, a highly symbolic design and a mintage smaller than most school classes makes this coin a collector's piece with character.

Conclusion: A Numismatic Collector's Gem of a Special Kind

The 1 oz Gold Bitcoin 2026 in Proof is more than a coin – it is a statement. It combines the fascination of the digital age with the timeless dignity of gold. With a mintage of just 99 examples worldwide, it ranks among the most exclusive mintings the market currently has to offer. Those who do not act now may find themselves regretting this missed opportunity for a long time to come.
