A Mamenchisaurus from China had a neck up to 15 metres long.
Mamenchisaurus sinocanadorum lived about 160 million years ago in what is now China.
No human has ever seen this animal alive: the age of the dinosaurs ended 66 million years ago, and the human genus has existed for about 2.8 million years.

Wir freuen uns, Ihnen die dritte Münze der Serie “Prehistoric Life” vorstellen zu dürfen. Die Nachfrage nach neuen Serien im Silberbereich ist sehr groß, vor allem im Anlagebereich mit limitierter Auflage.
Insgesamt wird die Serie 12 Münzen umfassen und jährlich werden 3 Ausgaben erscheinen, welche alle ein anderes Motiv besitzen werden. Nachdem die African Wildlife Serie so beliebt geworden ist, im 1 Unzen Silber Bereich wird die neue Serie sich mit der Urzeit und den zu dieser Zeit lebenden Tiere befassen.
Die dritte Münze dieser Ausgabe zeigt uns den einen der größten Dionausaurier, den Mamenchisaurus. Gewisse Arten wurden bis zu 22 Meter lang und wogen bis zu 18 Tonnen. Charakeristisch war der sehr lange Hals, der die Hälfte der Körperlänge ausmachte. Die Größe ermöglichte dem Pflanzenfresser auch Blattzeug von höheren Bäumen zu essen.
Auch Millionen von Jahre später sind die Menschen noch immer von den Wesen aus der Urzeit fasziniert, in Museen sind Dinosaurierskelette, vor allem von Kinder das begehrteste Ausstellungsstück. Daher eignet sich diese Serie auch hervorragend als Geschenk für Kinder.
Das Design der Münze wurde liebevoll und sehr detailliert gestaltet und zeigt uns auf der Motivseite zwei Mamenchisaurier, in einer kargen Landschaft mit einigen weiteren Flugsaurier. Ebenfalls auf der Motivseite ist das Ausgabejahr, sowie der Name des Hauptdinosaurier und dessen Lebenszeitraum zu lesen. Am Rand ist der Name der Münzserie aufgeprägt. Die Wertseite zeigt uns das Wappen der Demokratischen Republik Kongo in der Mitte, sowie dem Nennwert, das Gewicht und die Feinheit.
