German Banknotes Gold 3-Piece Set – Three D-Mark Legends in Purest Fine Gold

  • Strictly limited: Limited to just 50 pieces worldwide – a mintage rarely seen on this scale.
  • Growth potential: Very high appreciation potential, because the strict limitation meets a persistently lively demand for D-Mark designs.
  • Rarity: An exceptionally rare collector's coin in the format of historical original banknotes.
  • Investment goal: Physical gold investment in a small denomination – the value is determined primarily by the fine gold content and thus by the gold price.
  • Design: The last 5, 10 and 20 Deutsche Mark notes of the Bundesbank – Bettina von Arnim, Carl Friedrich Gauß and Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, each with the original reverse designs.
  • Material / Fineness: Fine gold with a fineness of 999.9/1,000, a total fine weight of 0.47 g (3 × 1/200 oz).
  • Minting quality: The highest possible minting quality, Proof (PP).
  • Manufacturer: Exclusively minted for Kettner Edelmetalle.
  • Country of origin: Germany – issued with a face value of 25 Dollars each by the Republic of Liberia.
  • Packaging: Delivered in a protective case, all three editions mounted side by side.

Hardly any currency has enjoyed as much trust as the Deutsche Mark. This set brings back three of its most iconic banknotes – not on paper, but in gold. What matters here is not the image, but the substance: 0.47 g of purest fine gold at 999.9 fineness, whose value is directly tied to the gold price. Anyone who acquires this is not buying a mere minted design, but full-fledged investment gold – conveniently portioned, tradable worldwide at any time, and just as easily resold at any time.

Three Notes, Three Chapters of German Monetary History

The designs come from the last D-Mark series of the Deutsche Bundesbank, the so-called Personalities Series. The five-mark note features the writer Bettina von Arnim (1785–1859), with the Brandenburg Gate on the reverse. The ten-mark note bears the portrait of Carl Friedrich Gauß (1777–1855) – mathematician, astronomer and geodesist – with the sextant he used for his surveys on the reverse. The twenty-mark note is dedicated to the poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff (1797–1848); the reverse shows a quill and a beech tree, referencing her novella "Die Judenbuche". Every detail of the original notes, right down to the fine guilloche patterns and the serial number, has been transferred onto the gold.

Proof: The Pinnacle of Minting

All three editions are struck in Proof quality – the most elaborate minting quality there is. Mirror-smooth surfaces, finely frosted reliefs, dies and blanks polished multiple times: the difference compared to a standard Brilliant Uncirculated strike is immediately visible to the naked eye. This quality comes at a cost in production – and that is precisely why Proof editions are regularly issued in very small numbers.

Rarity with Substance: A Mintage of Just 50 Pieces

Only 50 examples of this set exist worldwide. This very low mintage makes the ensemble a genuine rarity: when such a small number of pieces meets a large number of D-Mark enthusiasts, exactly the kind of scarcity arises that fuels considerable appreciation potential. Unlike mass-produced items, there will be no re-minting here – the limitation is final.

Small amounts of gold add up over the years into considerable wealth – gram by gram, in pure fine gold.

Why Physical Gold Remains the Foundation

Gold is the oldest currency in the world and has been a proven store of value for over 6,000 years. It possesses an inherent, intrinsic value, has historically never had a value of zero, and protects its owners from loss of purchasing power. While paper money can be multiplied at will – the D-Mark itself is an instructive example of this – the supply of gold is naturally limited. It is no coincidence that central banks are among the largest holders of gold in the world. As an inflation hedge and as crisis protection, physical precious metal is in demand worldwide. Another advantage: profits from the sale of privately held gold are generally tax-free after a holding period of at least one year.

Investment Gold with a Personal Touch

Would you like to give something lasting for a birthday, wedding or christening? Then with this set, you're not giving paper or a fleeting gesture, but genuine investment gold: minted fine gold whose value is tied to the gold price and which can be converted back into cash at any time. Despite the nostalgic design and the personal occasion, substance always remains at the forefront in the end. And because gold coins in small denominations are especially easy to divide, the set is also well suited as a manageable entry point into systematic wealth building – step by step, in a metal that has never lost its shine over thousands of years.
