From the rock
A tube ran through its hollow head crest.
It led from the nostrils to the tip and back again. The crest may have produced a deep, trumpet-like sound.
No human has ever seen this animal alive: the age of the dinosaurs ended 66 million years ago, and the human genus has existed for about 2.8 million years.

With this issue, you hold a piece of physical gold in your hands, whose value is derived primarily from the fine gold it contains and tracks the gold price. Gold is humanity's oldest currency and has served as a proven store of value for over 6,000 years – a scarce commodity with intrinsic value that has never lost its shine over the millennia. The design is the personal touch of this minting; the actual substance, however, lies in the precious metal itself.
As a strictly limited collector's coin with a mintage of only 2,000 pieces, this fine gold combines genuine investment substance with pronounced rarity. It is precisely this very low mintage that makes the 2022 year of issue so sought-after among connoisseurs of the series – and at the same time is the driving force behind the appreciation potential mentioned above.
The design: prehistoric cinema in fine gold
The obverse shows an entire herd of Parasaurolophus, those distinctive herbivores with the characteristic backward-sweeping head crest. The animals cross a primeval river landscape with ferns, trees and a dragonfly in the foreground, while predatory dinosaurs are already stalking at the edge of the scene. The inscription reads "PREHISTORIC LIFE" at the top, below it "PARASAUROLOPHUS 76-72 MIO YEARS BC" as well as the year of issue 2022. The fine depth of field in the scene is particularly impressively showcased by the Proof minting quality. The reverse bears the coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of the Congo with the leopard's head, as well as the face value of 100 Francs and the inscription "0.5 g Au 999.9". A ribbed, serrated edge rounds off the overall appearance.
The "Prehistoric Life" series
Launched in 2020 with the Tyrannosaurus Rex, this prehistoric series is dedicated, through its ongoing issues, to the most fascinating creatures of Earth's history. Parasaurolophus is the ninth issue in this series. Each design is released in parallel as a fine silver coin and as a 0.5 g gold minting – with the golden variant standing out in particular due to its strict limitation. Those who follow the series value the consistently high-quality design and the consistently small mintage figures.
Fine gold as an investment – building wealth in small steps
This minting is one of the popular small gold coins and is excellently suited as a manageable entry point into physical gold investment. Small amounts of gold accumulate over the years into a considerable asset that can be traded and resold worldwide at any time. Physical gold has never had a value of zero; it possesses intrinsic value and retains its properties across generations – ideal for passing on wealth.
This product also has its place as a building block for diversifying a precious metals portfolio: gold shows a low correlation to other asset classes and is held as a reserve by central banks worldwide. As such, it traditionally contributes to inflation hedging and crisis protection, and serves as a reliable store of value when trust in fiat currency wanes.
Would you like to give a genuine gold investment as a gift for a special occasion such as a birthday, christening or wedding? Then, with this issue, you are presenting not a mere souvenir item, but full-fledged investment gold – minted fine gold whose value tracks the gold price and whose strictly limited mintage of only 2,000 pieces adds the extra appeal of a sought-after rarity.
Substance made of 999.9 fine gold, packaged in a micro-mintage of 2,000 pieces and refined in Proof quality – the 2022 Parasaurolophus issue combines investment gold with pronounced rarity.
The coin is delivered as new merchandise, individually protected in a coin capsule. This ensures that the delicate mirror shine of the Proof quality remains permanently flawless.
