Ounce of Luck 2026 in silver, design side with the inlaid real clover

On New Year cards around 1900, the wish was already in the picture: four-leaf clovers, ladybirds, horseshoes. These are the signs our pieces carry in gold and silver. A real four-leaf clover is inlaid in this coin.

The four-leaf clover

Four leaves, where three usually grow.

Clover normally has three leaflets, four only in very rare cases. The Botanic Gardens of the University of Bonn call the four-leaf clover a rare exception.

The disposition lies in the genes, as a plant breeder at the University of Georgia found. Whether the fourth leaf actually grows also depends on light and temperature.

The German dictionary Duden calls it Glücksklee: clover with an exceptionally four-part leaf, regarded as a lucky charm. The dictionary of the Brothers Grimm also lists the four-leaf clover as a Glücksblatt, a leaf of luck.

The lucky clover sold in pots, by the way, is a wood sorrel from southern Mexico that naturally has four leaves. It came to Europe in the 19th century.

“A four-leaf clover is a rarity. Lucky is the person who happens to find one.”
Museum der Kulturen, Basel

This coin carries the clover not as a picture, but for real.

The lucky ladybird

Seven spots, a lucky number.

In German folk speech the ladybird is called Glückskäfer, the lucky beetle, as the German dictionary Duden records. The Etymological Dictionary of German calls ladybirds the best known and best loved beetles, regarded as a symbol of luck.

The classic lucky charm is the seven-spot ladybird, red with seven black spots. Seven has always been considered a lucky number, writes NABU, the German nature conservation union.

By the way, the spots do not reveal a ladybird’s age. Their number stays the same throughout its life of at most one year.

A seven-spot ladybird eats 100 to 150 aphids a day, its larva 400 to 600 before it pupates.

“As a lucky charm, the seven-spot ladybird … enjoys great popularity.”
NABU, Naturschutzbund Deutschland

The real clover

Grown, not struck.

Under the loupe you can see the veins of its leaves, just as they grew. The value side reads “ONE OUNCE OF LUCK”.

Luck to give

A wish you keep.

At the turn of the year people give lucky charms. The New Year lucky charms we know today came about in the 19th century.

Many people do not want to throw their lucky charms away or pass them on, for fear the luck might go with them.

Whether lucky charms really bring luck may be left open, writes the Volkskundemuseum Wien. And it names what they are meant to say:

“Whoever gives a lucky charm wants to say: I care about you.”
Volkskundemuseum Wien

A gift for a birth or the new year, for instance: the coin comes in a case.

Luck has its signs. Here they stand in silver.

1 Ounce Silver Ounce of Luck 2026 – Pure Luck in Proof Quality

  • Minting quality: Highest possible minting quality "Proof" with mirror-finish surfaces
  • Investment objective: Collector's coin with inflation hedge and long-term value retention
  • Design: Filigree ornamental decoration frames a genuine, inlaid four-leaf clover – a good-luck charm from nature
  • Material / fineness: 1 ounce of purest silver with an impressive fineness of 999.9/1,000
  • Limitation: Only 2,026 pieces worldwide – strictly limited mintage
  • Special feature 2026: For the first time, design elements extend into the reeded coin edge
  • Manufacturer: Traditional mint B.H. Mayer from Germany
  • Face value: 5 dollars of the Cook Islands – official legal tender

Sometimes all it takes is a small, green leaf to make a collector's heart beat faster. This is exactly the feeling embodied by the 1 Ounce Silver Ounce of Luck 2026. Embedded in the finely structured center of the coin rests a genuine four-leaf clover – each specimen a one-of-a-kind, each leaf personally signed by nature. This combination of precious metal and botanical rarity makes the coin one of the most charming pieces among the silver coins of this year's issue.

A design that unites tradition and craftsmanship

Anyone holding the coin in their hand immediately recognizes: this was not simply minted, it was composed. Lush floral vines, playful arabesques, and ornately scrolled floral motifs frame the four-leaf clover like a baroque picture frame. The mint B.H. Mayer has gently modernized the proven design of the "Four-leaf Clovers" series for 2026 – with an innovation that will particularly delight enthusiasts: the design elements flow all the way into the coin edge, giving the piece a three-dimensional depth that can almost be felt.

The value side presents the coat of arms of the Cook Islands, framed by the inscription "ONE OUNCE OF LUCK" and an ornamental leaf vine. The face value of 5 dollars as well as the year of issue make the coin an official means of payment – even though it is far too precious for that purpose.

Proof – the ultimate in minting artistry

The execution in Proof quality is what numismatists lovingly refer to as the "premier class." Mirror-like surfaces, razor-sharp reliefs, matte imagery – a play of contrasts that elevates every coin to a small work of art. The piece is delivered protected in a high-quality coin capsule, so that luck stays locked away for as long as possible.

"Luck favors the prepared." – Anyone investing in collector's items limited to 2,026 pieces is perfectly prepared.

Why silver? Why now?

Silver is one of the oldest stores of value in human history. While paper currencies come and go, the white precious metal has held its ground for thousands of years – as coinage metal, as a medium of exchange, as a symbol of prosperity, and as a tangible asset. On top of that, industrial demand for silver – whether in solar technology, electronics, or medical technology – is steadily growing. With limited mining output, this creates an exciting constellation for anyone who trusts in physical precious metal.

The advantages at a glance

  • Tax-attractive: After a holding period of at least one year, profits from the sale of silver are generally tax-free
  • Crisis-proof: Silver has intrinsic value – independent of central bank decisions or political turmoil
  • Industrial demand: Solar, electronics, and medical technology are driving consumption continuously
  • Diversification: Precious metals offer a complement to traditional assets
  • Affordable entry: Compared to gold, silver is significantly more accessible in price
  • Generational investment: Values that can be passed on – no server required, no password needed

For collectors, gift-givers, and seekers of luck alike

This edition of the popular silver coins from B.H. Mayer is far more than a mere bullion coin. It is a good-luck charm, a gift idea, a collector's treasure, and an investment all in one. For a birthday, a passed exam, a wedding, or the turn of the year – with the Ounce of Luck, you are not just giving away a coin, but a small portion of captured luck made of purest silver in Proof quality.

Anyone familiar with the previous editions knows: the "Four-leaf Clovers" series has for years been among the most sought-after collectibles among themed silver coins. With only 2,026 pieces worldwide, the 2026 edition is a true connoisseur's piece – and a numismatic evergreen that, as experience shows, only grows more appealing with time.
