Firebird in fine gold: the PAMP Phoenix in lucky format

  • Investment objective: With gold bars, you move your savings to where inflation has little access – a tangible inflation hedge that depends on no interest rate decision.
  • Value preservation: Physical gold reliably stores the real purchasing power of your assets and has historically even increased it over long periods.
  • Protection: Rising prices, a weakening economy, government debt at record levels – it is precisely in such phases that the yellow metal shows why it has been regarded as reinsurance for private wealth for millennia.
  • Crisis protection: Handy denominations like this ten-gram bar can be used easily as a means of exchange or payment in an emergency, without having to sell off a large bar right away.

The 10g gold bar PAMP Suisse Phoenix combines two worlds that rarely come together so harmoniously: solid investment gold with a fineness of 999.9/1,000 and a colorful work of art. The "Good Luck Phoenix" is the latest edition of the popular "Good Luck" series from the Swiss precious metals manufacturer PAMP. On the obverse, a colorized phoenix spreads its rainbow-colored wings. A true eye-catcher. And at the same time, ten grams of pure fine gold that arm your wealth against creeping currency devaluation.

Fenghuang – symbol of new beginnings, luck and prosperity

What is known in the West as the phoenix is called Fenghuang in China. According to legend, this celestial bird was born inside the sun, watches over the southern sky and rules over all other birds. It embodies the energy of fire and stands for vitality, renewal, transformation and success. In Feng Shui, it is still considered a powerful sign of harmony and an auspicious start. This fits well with the Western legend of the bird that rises anew from its own ashes. It would be hard to find a more fitting design for a store of value that has outlasted every crisis in human history.

On the obverse, the colorized phoenix rises with widely spread wings, its tail winding downward in an elegant spiral. In the background, finely engraved cloud and wave lines pass by. In the upper right sits a cartouche with the Chinese characters 福 (Fu, "luck") and 鳳凰 (Fenghuang). The reverse shows the PAMP logo, the inscriptions "SUISSE", "10 g", "FINE GOLD" and "999.9", the "Essayeur Fondeur" stamp, as well as an individual serial number. The whole design is framed by a finely minted phoenix with long tail feathers, surrounded by clouds and sun rays. PAMP finishes the surface with a reflective proof-like finish that makes the fine details stand out particularly vividly.

Why gold preserves your purchasing power

Paper money can be multiplied at the push of a button. Gold cannot. While central banks expand the supply of fiat money at will, the supply of the precious metal naturally remains limited – and it is precisely this scarcity that ensures long-term value stability. When inflation rises, every euro in your account loses purchasing power, while gold has historically held or even increased its value.

Gold has served as a store of value for over 6,000 years. Already in ancient Egypt it was used as a unit of measure in trade; later it facilitated the exchange of goods along the Silk Road and accompanied the discovery of new continents. Kings and emperors wore it as a sign of their power. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the gold standard ultimately formed the backbone of entire currency systems: banknotes could be redeemed at any time for a fixed quantity of gold. Gold is thus the oldest currency in the world and has outlived every paper currency that ever sought to replace it. Thanks to its intrinsic value, it has never been worth zero.

Paper money comes and goes, gold remains. It is not for nothing that it has always been regarded as God's money – and as the metal that never loses its shine.

It is remarkable who holds the largest gold reserves today: the central banks themselves. They store the precious metal as a reserve currency to support the stability of the financial system – a clear signal that even the issuers of fiat money do not trust their own product without limit. For you as a private investor, this means: with physical gold, you protect yourself against currency risks, political upheavals and economic crises. It is recognized worldwide, highly liquid, and can be converted back into cash at any time if needed.

Phoenix, Lady Fortuna or the 5-gram variant? A comparison

The classic among PAMP gold bars is undoubtedly the Lady Fortuna. Anyone who focuses exclusively on the lowest possible premium per gram will opt for this standard design – after all, the fine gold is the same. The Phoenix, on the other hand, plays in a league of its own: colorization, proof-like finish and a mintage limited to 10,000 pieces make it a bar that delights investors and collectors alike. As a result, the premium is naturally somewhat higher than for a standard bar. The colored surface also deserves careful handling; it is best to simply leave the bar in its sealed CertiPAMP card.

In parallel, PAMP also offers the Phoenix as a 5-gram bar with a mintage of 18,888 pieces. The 10-gram version scores with its significantly smaller mintage and double the fine weight, while still remaining compact enough for flexible partial sales. Compared to gold coins of the same weight, the minted bar impresses with its flat, space-saving shape and clearly certified fineness. And for anyone considering turning instead to gold's little brother, silver: gold concentrates a multiple of value in the smallest space, is exempt from VAT, and can be stored exceptionally discreetly.

Convincing tax advantages

As investment gold, the bar is exempt from VAT within the EU. Furthermore, under current German law, profits from the sale remain completely tax-free if at least one year has passed between purchase and sale. Therefore, keep your invoice carefully as proof.

PAMP: Swiss quality from Ticino

PAMP – short for Produits Artistiques Métaux Précieux – was founded in 1977 in Castel San Pietro in the canton of Ticino. Since 1987, the refinery has been LBMA-certified, and thus approved by the London Bullion Market Association for international precious metals trading. Today, the company belongs to the MKS PAMP Group and ranks among the world's leading manufacturers of minted bars. The counterfeit-proof CertiPAMP blister card also originates from PAMP: each card bears the signature of a certified assayer and confirms weight, fineness and serial number.

A lucky charm with lasting value

Whether for a birth, a wedding, Chinese New Year, or as a building block of your retirement provisions: the PAMP Suisse Phoenix is a gift that won't gather dust in a cupboard, but can be passed down from generation to generation. Gold is durable, retains its physical properties over centuries, and will still shine for your grandchildren. With this bar, you secure a piece of Swiss minting artistry – and at the same time, a reliable shield for your purchasing power.
