PAMP strikes the winged scarab beneath the sun disc, in fine gold 999.9/1,000.

In ancient Egypt

Flesh and bones of the gods

To the Egyptians, gold and silver were more than metal: they could stand for the flesh and the bones of the gods, for the sun and the moon.

Gold was linked with the gods and the deified dead because it lasts; silver, for its pale colour, with the moon and with ritual purity.

The gold of the pharaohs

Gold from Nubia and the Eastern Desert

The Egyptian word for gold, nbw, is reflected in the ancient name of Nubia.

The gold of the pharaohs was mostly not refined and often held a great deal of silver. Pliny the Elder called a natural alloy of gold with more than 20 per cent silver electrum.

Gold leaf that could be just one micrometre thin was already made in ancient times. Gold was largely controlled by the king, and of the many statues of the temples only a single golden one is known to survive.

Coined money came late: until about the time of Alexander the Great, the Egyptian economy was based on goods.

The map of the gold mines

Around 1150 BC a map of the Wadi Hammamat was made for a quarrying expedition of Ramesses IV, one of the earliest known maps. According to the geologist James Harrell, it bears labels such as “hills where gold is found” and “hills of gold and silver”.

It is regarded as the oldest known geological map; the next known one only appears in the sources some 29 centuries later.

Silver and the moon

For long, silver was worth more than gold

Temple inscriptions from much of Egypt’s history point to this.

In the land of the pharaohs

Five faces of ancient Egypt

The pieces of this world show Tutankhamun, Nefertiti, Cleopatra, Hatshepsut and Ramesses II. Tutankhamun’s tomb was found largely intact.

Giza · wonder of the ancient world

Built for eternity

The Pyramid of Khufu is the only surviving wonder of the ancient world. Its ancient name was Akhet Khufu, “the Horizon of Khufu”.

Signs of the Nile

What the signs meant

The same signs return on the pieces of this world. This is how major museums describe their meaning in ancient Egypt.

  • Scarab

    Scarab

Scarabs with the name and title of their owner often served as seals: their underside was pressed into a lump of clay.

    On this piece

  • Eye of Ra

    Eye of Ra

In the myth the Eye went away and only returned once wine, music and dance had calmed it; in this way the Egyptians explained the yearly journey of the sun to the south and back.

On the Eye of Ra bar

  • Wedjat eye

    Wedjat eye

“Wedjat” means “the one that is sound”: in the myth Seth injured or stole the eye of Horus, and Thoth restored it.

    On a pyramid from Djibouti

  • Ankh

    Ankh

As a hieroglyph the ankh wrote the words “live” and “life”; as a symbol it stood for life.

    On a pyramid from Djibouti

  • Uraeus

    Uraeus

The rearing cobra with its flared hood was worn on the forehead and was regarded as a sign of protection.

On the death mask from Liberia

  • Cartouche

    Cartouche

In hieroglyphic inscriptions the oval surrounds the names of royal persons.

Gold and silver on the Nile

Gold for permanence, silver for the moon: what the Egyptians saw in their metals, these bars and coins carry on.

5g Gold Bar PAMP Lucky Scarab – Mythical Protection Meets Modern Inflation Hedge

  • Investment objective: With this gold bar, you protect your wealth highly effectively against the gradual loss of value caused by inflation.
  • Wealth preservation: The PAMP Lucky Scarab serves as a first-class store of value, securing the real substance of your wealth over the long term and potentially growing it.
  • Hedging: In times of galloping inflation rates, economic downturns, and exploding national debt, this gold bar protects your hard-earned capital.
  • Crisis protection: Compact gold bars of this size prove to be an ideal means of exchange and payment in turbulent times – handy, divisible, and universally recognised.

There are symbols that have stood for protection and renewal for thousands of years. The scarab is one of them. The ancient Egyptians revered it as a sacred sign of rebirth, as a lucky charm, and as a companion on the journey to the afterlife. It is precisely this powerful symbol that the renowned Swiss mint PAMP has captured on an exquisite 5g gold bar – creating a piece that is far more than a mere investment.

PAMP Suisse: Swiss Precision in Purest Gold

Those who know PAMP know this: nothing is left to chance here. The refinery, founded in Ticino in 1977, is one of the most respected manufacturers of precious metal products in the world. Every single gold bar leaves the facility with a fineness of 999.9/1,000 – it simply doesn't get any purer than that. The minted finish gives the Lucky Scarab razor-sharp details that truly bring the Egyptian design to life.

The bar is delivered in a high-quality blister card that simultaneously serves as a certificate of authenticity. This means you always have proof of origin, weight, and purity at hand – a decisive advantage when it comes to trust and resale value.

Why exactly 5 grams?

Not everyone wants – or is able – to invest in large bar units straight away. And this is precisely where the strength of the 5-gram format lies. It is the perfect entry point. Small enough to remain flexible. Large enough to embody real value. Those who regularly invest in units like these build up, piece by piece, a physical gold reserve that can last for generations.

"Gold is money. Everything else is credit." – J.P. Morgan

Your Personal Shield Against Currency Devaluation

Inflation eats away. Quietly, but relentlessly. What is worth 100 euros today may only buy goods worth 95 euros tomorrow. And the day after? Inflation protection is not an abstract concept – it is a necessity. For over 6,000 years, gold has proven itself as a bulwark against the loss of purchasing power. While paper currencies came and went, gold remained. Always. Without exception.

Particularly noteworthy: Gold is VAT-exempt in Germany. This means that when purchasing this bar, you pay not a single cent in VAT (Value Added Tax). And if you hold your PAMP Lucky Scarab for at least one year, any gains upon sale are even completely tax-free. What other store of value can claim the same?

What Sets the Lucky Scarab Apart from Other Gold Bars

  1. Unique design: The Egyptian scarab gives this bar a distinctive collector's value that goes beyond the pure material value.
  2. Highest purity: With 999.9 fine gold, you are choosing the maximum in quality.
  3. Swiss origin: PAMP Suisse stands worldwide for trust, precision, and excellence.
  4. Certified authenticity: The sealed blister card protects the bar and guarantees its authenticity.
  5. High liquidity: PAMP bars are traded around the globe and instantly recognised.

More Than an Investment – A Piece of History in Your Hands

Imagine: you hold a bar in your hands whose design draws on a symbolism over 4,000 years old. The scarab, which embodied the sun god Khepri, stood for the eternal cycle – for permanence in a constantly changing world. That is exactly what gold is. Permanent. Imperishable. Timeless.

Compared to classic design bars or plain standard bars, the Lucky Scarab offers an emotional added value that makes it particularly attractive as a gift or collector's item. Those who already own PAMP products such as the famous Lady Fortuna bar will find the perfect addition to their collection here.
