On the cave wall
In the Chauvet Cave there are about 300 hollows where bears hibernated.
Along with more than 3,700 cave bear bones and thousands of scratch marks on the walls.
In the Chauvet Cave, mammoths, big cats, rhinoceroses and bears are among the most frequent animal images. People first entered the cave about 36,500 years ago.

The reverse shows the animal in its landscape, and a frieze of animals runs around the rim. The obverse bears the coat of arms of Ghana.

Die neuste Münze aus der Serie „Giganten der Eiszeit“ ist nun auf dem Markt. Die neuste Münze der Serie widmet sich dem Höhlenbär
Der Höhenbär ist eine ausgestorbene Bärenart der letzten Kaltzeit. Höhlenbären lebten bis ca. 28.000 v.Ch. Der Lebensraum des Höhlenbären war Europa, von Nordspanien bis zum Ural. Seine Kopf-Rumpf-Länge betrug bis zu 3,5 m, seine Schulterhöhe zirka 1,70 m. Er war somit deutlich größer als der heutige Braunbär. Die Weibchen des Höhlenbären waren, wie bei heutigen Bärenarten, etwas kleiner als die Männchen. Das Gewicht eines männlichen Höhlenbären wird auf 600 bis 1200 kg geschätzt.
Nicht zuletzt durch die erfolgreichen Animationsfilme von Ice Age sind prähistorische Tiere wieder in aller Munde, und so ist es auch nicht verwunderlich, dass die Leipziger Edelmetallverarbeitung mit dieser Serie eine neue beliebte Münzserie auf den Markt gebracht hat.
Mit einer Auflage von 15.000 Münzen weltweit ist diese Münze sowohl für Anleger aber auch für Münzsammler sehr gut geeignet. Das Design der Münze zeigt einen aufgerichteten Höhlenbär mit aufgerissenem Maul. Über dem Hauptmotiv ist der Schriftzug „Giants of the Ice Age“ zu lesen, ebenfalls ist das Gewicht, die Feinheit und der Jahrgang auf der Motivseite zu erkennen. Am äußeren Rand der Motivseite sind alle Umrisse der Tiere zu sehen, welche Teil dieser Münzserie sind.
Auf der Wertseite der Münze befindet sich das Staatswappen der Republik Ghana, sowie der Nennwert von 1.000 Cedis.
Jede Münze wird in einer Münzkapsel geliefert und ab 10 Stück in einer Masterbox aus Holz.
