1/200 oz Gold Big Five Elephant – Investment Gold in Miniature Format

Small in weight, big in impact: with the Gold Big Five Elephant coin from the 2025 year of issue, you acquire physical investment gold in one of the smallest available fine weights. The coin is issued by the Republic of Chad with a face value of 5,000 CFA francs, and struck by the Swiss refinery Valcambi – a name that stands for the highest minting quality worldwide. The value of this piece is based primarily on the fine gold it contains and moves in line with the gold price.

  • Investment objective: a return-oriented bullion coin for wealth preservation and inflation hedge.
  • Design: a majestic African elephant, facing forward in front of an acacia tree and savanna, flanked by the vertical lettering "BIG FIVE".
  • Material & fineness: 0.16 g of pure fine gold in premium fineness 999/1,000 (999 gold).
  • Manufacturer: struck by the renowned refinery Valcambi.
  • Country of issue: Republic of Chad, face value 5,000 CFA francs.
  • Condition: Brilliant Uncirculated new coin with a diameter of 40.00 mm, delivered in a case with certificate of authenticity.

The Design: Africa's Iconic Animal on 999 Gold

The obverse is entirely dedicated to the elephant – the largest land animal on Earth and one of Africa's famous "Big Five". Depicted frontally and with impressive attention to detail, the animal takes up almost the entire surface: powerful tusks, widely flared ears and the characteristic wrinkled skin are finely worked out. In the background, an acacia tree and the silhouette of the vast savanna suggest the African wilderness, while at the lower edge, the small outlines of the remaining four Big Five animals identify the series. The lettering "BIG FIVE" appears vertically along the left edge.

The reverse shows the coat of arms of Chad, surrounded by the inscriptions REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD (the country of issue), 5000 FRANCS CFA (the face value), and 999/1000 FINE GOLD as proof of fineness. The coin belongs to the "Animals on Land" series. The design provides a personal, appealing touch – but the actual substance and reason for purchase remains the fine gold it contains.

Material, Fineness and Minting Quality

Each coin contains 0.16 g of fine gold (1/200 oz) in the high fineness of 999/1,000. Despite its low weight, the piece presents itself on a generous scale: at 40 mm in diameter, the elephant unfolds its full effect, with the polished, shining gold surface setting the design in striking contrast. Such micro gold coins are particularly popular as an entry point into physical gold investment – they allow wealth to be built up in small, manageable steps. Compared to the well-known 1 oz Big Five series from the South African Mint, this Chad issue is aimed at anyone who wants to acquire genuine gold rather than silver, even with a small budget.

Investment Gold as Inflation and Crisis Protection

Gold is the oldest currency in the world and has been a proven store of value for over 6,000 years. It has never been worth zero, possesses intrinsic value, and is recognized worldwide. This gold coin thus continues a thousand-year-old tradition and protects your wealth against loss of purchasing power.

Gold has been shining for thousands of years – and will not lose its shine in the future either. Those who hold physical fine gold own an asset that can exist independently of trust in paper money.
  • Wealth preservation: gold serves as an inflation hedge and protection against currency risks.
  • Crisis resilience: as proven crisis protection, physical gold protects against political and economic turbulence.
  • Liquidity: tradable worldwide, resalable at any time, and easily converted into cash.
  • Diversification: with low correlation to other assets, a solid building block within a portfolio.
  • Generations: durable and value-stable – ideal for passing on wealth.

Central banks also count among the largest gold holders in the world – a clear sign of confidence in this scarce, limited precious metal. By the way: profits from the sale of physical gold are generally tax-free after a holding period of at least one year.

Give a Genuine Gold Investment as a Gift

Whether for a birthday, christening, wedding or Christmas: with this coin, you are giving more than just a token gift – you are giving a genuine asset. Despite its personal touch, what you acquire here is full-fledged investment gold – minted fine gold whose value is based on the gold price. Small amounts of gold add up over the years to a substantial holding. This is why the Big Five Elephant coin from the Republic of Chad is among those gold coins that make entering physical gold investment particularly easy.
