With the 0.5 g gold coin Prehistoric Life Mamenchisaurus 2020, you acquire full-fledged investment gold in top-quality execution. The value of this small piece of pure gold is primarily based on the fine gold it contains and moves in line with the gold price. The impressive dinosaur design gives the coin its personal touch – but the true substance and reason for purchase is the precious metal it contains. This combines an extraordinary theme with the tangible security of physical gold.

This issue is the 3rd design in the Congo series "Prehistoric Life", which has been continued since 2020, making it a sought-after collector's coin with a worldwide mintage of only 2,000 pieces. It is precisely this strictly limited quantity that makes this small coin so highly sought after: where supply is scarce and demand is lively, noticeable appreciation potential arises. Small gold coins of this kind are also a convenient way to build up fine gold piece by piece.

The design: Mamenchisaurus in Proof

The obverse shows two Mamenchisaurus and a pterosaur in an atmospheric prehistoric landscape with mountains and a river. Despite the tiny diameter of only 11.00 mm, the depiction is remarkably finely detailed. The herbivorous Mamenchisaurus lived in the Late Jurassic in what is now China. It is famous for its extremely long neck, made up of up to 19 cervical vertebrae, which accounted for around half of its total length of up to 22 meters. The first fossils of this giant sauropod were found in 1952 at a road construction site in Sichuan Province. Around the edge, the coins bear the inscriptions PREHISTORIC LIFE, MAMENCHISAURUS, 160-145 MIO YEARS BC as well as the year of issue 2020.

The reverse shows the coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Congo) with its characteristic leopard head, framed by an elephant tusk and a spear, below which is the motto "Justice, Paix, Travail". The face value of 100 Francs as well as the weight and fineness are also stamped here. The Proof finish, with its deep mirror-polished surfaces, provides a high-quality appearance – the most elaborate quality a mint can produce. The coin is delivered protected in a coin capsule.

Investment gold in a small denomination – tangible wealth preservation

Gold is the world's oldest currency and has been a proven store of value for over 6,000 years. It has intrinsic value, has never had a value of zero, and is recognized and traded worldwide. This is precisely the appeal of this coin: it is a compact wealth component that can be traded and resold at any time. Small amounts of gold add up over the years to considerable wealth – a good entry point into physical gold investment that can be expanded piece by piece.

This edition also makes an excellent gift: instead of a fleeting present, give real investment gold for a birthday, christening or Christmas – an asset whose value tracks the gold price. Anyone who holds physical gold and keeps it for at least one year can, in Germany, generally realize any later capital gain tax-free. In this way, the 0.5 g gold coin Prehistoric Life Mamenchisaurus combines a fascinating prehistoric theme in top quality with the character of a solid, physical gold investment.
