Maple Leaf Gold Pyramid 2026 – six denominations, one maple leaf

  • Design: Canada's maple leaf with finely veined leaf structure set against shimmering radial lines – on the value side, the portrait of King Charles III.
  • Material & fineness: pure 24-karat gold with 999.9/1000 fineness
  • Mint: Royal Canadian Mint
  • Origin: Canada
  • What for? Wealth preservation, inflation hedge, support in times of crisis
  • Tax-smart: VAT-free under § 25c UStG – profits tax-free after a one-year holding period

Six coins. One year of issue. Together exactly 60.1 grams of fine gold. The Maple Leaf Gold Pyramid 2026 brings together the entire bullion family of the Royal Canadian Mint in a single package – from the large ounce down to the delicate 1-gram piece. Anyone who values the Gold Maple Leaf holds its entire range here: tiered like a pyramid, in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, and with an identical design on every single gold coin.

What's in the pyramid?

  1. 1 ounce gold – 31.10 g, face value 50 CAD, 30 mm diameter
  2. 1/2 ounce – 15.55 g, face value 20 CAD, 25 mm diameter
  3. 1/4 ounce – 7.78 g, face value 10 CAD
  4. 1/10 ounce – 3.11 g, face value 5 CAD
  5. 1/20 ounce – 1.56 g, face value 1 CAD
  6. 1 gram – 1.00 g, face value 50 cents

Each of these six coins is official Canadian legal tender. The combined face value of 86.50 Canadian dollars, however, remains a mere footnote. What matters is what's contained in the metal.

Maple leaf meets crown: the design

Since 1979, the Royal Canadian Mint has struck its most famous bullion coin, and for over four decades it has featured the same symbol: the maple leaf, Canada's national emblem. The classic design dates back to Walter Ott. Every vein, every point of the leaf is sculpted in relief, standing out against the finely grooved background. Added to this are the inscription "CANADA," the fineness marking "9999" shown twice, as well as the weight and "FINE GOLD … OR PUR" – bilingual, as befits Canada.

On the reverse side, King Charles III looks to the left. The portrait was created by Canadian artist Steven Rosati, whose initials "SR" can be found beneath the bust. It is complemented by the face value and the year of issue 2026.

Security you can see

Hardly any gold coin is as well protected against counterfeiting. The precise radial lines on both sides, introduced in 2015, create a vivid shimmer in the light that could only be imitated with enormous effort. On the ounce coin, a laser-engraved micro-maple leaf is added – a security feature the Royal Canadian Mint has used since 2013. Authenticity is, in a sense, struck right into the coin.

Why gold? Because it endures

Gold is the oldest currency in the world. Even in ancient Egypt it served as a standard for trade, later moving goods along the Silk Road and accompanying the discovery of new continents. Kings and emperors wore it as a symbol of their power. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the gold standard ultimately formed the foundation of entire monetary systems: paper money was nothing more than a promise of gold.

Gold is God's money – it has shone for thousands of years and will never lose its shine.

For over 6,000 years, it has proven itself as a store of value. It has never been worth zero, because gold possesses an inner, intrinsic value that does not depend on trust in governments. Fiat money, on the other hand, can be increased at will and thereby loses purchasing power. Gold is scarce, durable, and recognized worldwide. Telling is the fact that the world's largest holders of gold are the central banks themselves. They hold the precious metal as a reserve – a clear signal of just how much trust they actually place in their own paper money.

Anyone who owns physical gold coins is arming themselves against political and economic crises, against currency risks, and against the gradual erosion of purchasing power. And because gold is highly liquid, it can be sold at any time and converted back into cash – a flexibility that investors value highly. As the big brother of silver, it is also excellently suited for retirement provision and as wealth passed down from generation to generation.

Six sizes, six possibilities

This is exactly where the pyramid plays to its strengths. Larger coins offer plenty of gold at a favorable premium per gram. Smaller denominations cost somewhat more per gram, but in return are unbeatably flexible. This combination brings together the best of both worlds:

  • Tailored partial sales: you sell only the coin you need right now.
  • An ideal medium of exchange, should a currency ever falter.
  • Perfect as a gift – for example, the 1/10 or 1/20 ounce for a christening, graduation, or anniversary.
  • Pure collector's appeal: a complete 2026 vintage across all bullion sizes.

Compared with the Krugerrand, a clear difference emerges: the South African classic is made of 22-karat gold with a copper content, whereas the Maple Leaf is made of pure 999.9 fine gold. This puts the Canadian coin in the same league as the Vienna Philharmonic. Soft fine gold deserves careful storage, for example in coin capsules. In return, the Maple Leaf has been one of the first bullion coins with four nines since 1982 – and remains to this day one of the most well-known gold coins in the world.

Buy tax-free, hold tax-free

As investment gold, the Maple Leaf Gold Pyramid is exempt from VAT in Germany under § 25c UStG. You therefore pay exclusively for the gold and the minting. If you hold the coins for longer than one year, any capital gains from a sale are, under current law, tax-free. A solid foundation for anyone who wants to build wealth that will still hold value tomorrow.
