How does the AurumXpert work?

However, a matching conductivity value alone does not prove either the exact composition or the authenticity of a piece.

The display shows the conductivity value in MS/m (megasiemens per meter) along with the corresponding material ranges. For a gold Krugerrand, the manufacturer's instructions specify a target value of 9.7 MS/m at 20 °C and a tolerance range of 9.4 to 10.6 MS/m (Gold 916 (A), Type E).

The 45.2 MS/m visible in the product photo falls within the range for fine gold 999(+) and is not proof of authenticity for the Krugerrand shown.
