No animal represents freedom quite like the eagle. It sits enthroned on coats of arms, seals and flags, it circles over prairie, outback and savannah – and for centuries it has adorned coins made of gold and silver. The Eagle Tribute Collection "Untamed Freedom" captures this symbolic power in an extraordinary set: twelve coins, three metals, designs from four continents. From the tiny gold piece in miniature format to the massive 2-ounce silver Proof coin.
The result? A collection you don't have to laboriously assemble piece by piece. It arrives complete.
In total, the set brings a fine weight of 210.93 g to the scale – of which approximately 18.89 g gold, 163.29 g silver and 28.75 g copper. Included are:
Things begin with what is probably the world's most famous eagle. The American Eagle from the United States Mint is today among the most traded bullion coins worldwide. The 1-ounce silver coin shows Lady Liberty striding on one side, and on the other the landing bald eagle with wings spread wide. Its golden counterpart in 1/10 ounce format carries a face value of 5 dollars. Struck – as is typical for the Gold Eagle – from 22-karat gold, it contains exactly 3.11 g of fine gold.
The American chapter is rounded out by the small Gold Bald Eagle Coin from the Republic of Gabon (1000 Francs CFA, 999/1000 gold, 1/1000 oz, 16 mm), presented on a lovingly illustrated card, as well as by the Copper Coin Eagle Head. The latter shows the striking eagle head in profile, encircled by a wreath of stars – a warm, coppery accent that beautifully rounds off the set visually.
A true highlight among the silver coins in this collection comes from Perth. The Perth Mint strikes the Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle 2026 from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver. It was designed by John M. Mercanti, the former Chief Engraver of the US Mint – already his eleventh Wedge-Tailed Eagle design. The colored edition is limited to just 2,500 pieces.
What makes it special: behind the Australian wedge-tailed eagle, a bald eagle looks to the right, paying homage to the 250th anniversary of US independence on July 4, 2026. Two nations, two eagles, one coin.
The South African Mint – the mint behind the Krugerrand – has launched its own eagle series for the first time with Odyssey of the Sky. The series kicked off in 2025 with the Bateleur, the Bateleur Eagle: 1 ounce of 999 silver, face value 5 Rand, Proof, with only 5,000 pieces worldwide. In 2026, the Martial Eagle follows, Africa's largest bird of prey.
The Martial Eagle is represented twice in the set – as an impressive 2-ounce silver coin with a face value of 10 Rand (5,000 pieces) and as a 1/4 ounce gold coin, of which only 1,000 pieces exist. It is precisely this early point in the series that adds to the appeal: whoever owns the first two years of issue holds the anchor points of a young series in their hands.
The golden eagle is considered the king of the skies in the northern hemisphere. It appears three times over in the collection. The 1/4 oz Gold Golden Eagle 2026, with 299 pieces, is the rarest piece in the set. In Proof quality, it shows the bird of prey on a branch against a forest backdrop, struck from gold with 999/1,000 fineness. The 1/200 oz Gold Golden Eagle 2026 (999.9 fine gold, 14 mm, 5,000 pieces) presents it on a gnarled oak branch. Added to this is the small Gold Golden Eagle Coin in the same miniature format as its bald eagle counterpart.
And then there is the German Eagle 2026 in 1/4 ounce fine silver: the eagle in flight, framed by the inscription "Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit" (Unity and Justice and Freedom), with the armored Germania on the reverse. A piece of home amidst the international parade of eagles.
Gold is humanity's oldest currency. It has outlasted countless paper currencies – and the eagle on the coin reminds us that freedom also means financial independence.
A brief comparison shows the strength of the collection. Anyone who buys just a single American Eagle receives a rock-solid bullion coin – but only one single design. This set combines bullion classics with limited collector's coins in Proof quality. Naturally, the collector's character comes with a premium over the pure material value. In return, you receive a thematically cohesive edition that would be nearly impossible to assemble through individual purchases.
The coins in the set come in varying grades of preservation – from Brilliant Uncirculated to Proof. You can find the exact grade of preservation, particularly for the Bateleur Eagle already issued in 2025, as well as details on the respective packaging, explained in detail with the individual items. Proof coins should only be touched at the edge so that the mirror-like shine remains preserved permanently.
