Triple Maple Leaf 2027: Three Maple Leaves, One Stem, and Only 1,000 Pieces Worldwide

  • Strictly limited: Only 1,000 coins of this edition are minted worldwide. For an ounce coin, that is a very low mintage.
  • Growth potential: Very high appreciation potential due to the strict limitation and the lively demand for Triple Maple designs
  • Rarity: A rare collector's coin for anyone seeking something special
  • Minting quality: The highest possible finish, "Proof" (PP), with a mirrored background and finely worked relief
  • Design: One side shows three maple leaves on a shared stem, the other offers a view up the maple trunk into the crown
  • Tarnish protection: As the only version of its kind, reliably protected against tarnishing
  • Manufacturer: Exclusively issued by Kettner Edelmetalle
  • Country of origin: Manufactured in Germany and issued as a 20-dollar coin of the Republic of Liberia

Some designs need no explanation. A maple leaf? Everyone immediately thinks of Canada. The 1 oz Triple Maple Leaf 2027 takes it a step further, combining three leaves into a single sprig. It is struck from one ounce of pure silver with a fineness of 999.9/1,000. With a mintage of just 1,000 pieces, this edition belongs to those silver coins that you don't stumble upon by chance, but seek out deliberately.

A Design with Heraldic Origins

On the leaf side, a large central leaf sits at the center, flanked on the left and right by a smaller leaf each. Their stems converge at the bottom into a single point. Above them, the classic lettering reads "KANADA". The year is split: "20" to the left and "27" to the right of the leaves. Along the bottom edge runs the inscription "1 UNZE 9999 FEINSILBER".

The image is no coincidence. Three maple leaves on a single stem have adorned Canada's coat of arms since 1921, initially in green and, since 1957, in red. On the coin, every leaf vein and every jagged tip is sculpted in relief, standing out clearly against the mirrored field.

The reverse side shifts the perspective. You look up a mighty maple trunk into the branches above. Behind it float maple leaves, some as dark silhouettes, others only as fine outlines. On the left, the face value "20 DOLLARS" is shown prominently. At the bottom of the trunk sit the small coat of arms of Liberia and the inscription "REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA".

Three leaves, one tree, only 1,000 pieces: the Triple Maple Leaf 2027 tells the story of the maple, from trunk to individual leaf.

Proof: The Pinnacle of the Minting Art

To achieve the Proof finish, dies and blanks are elaborately polished and struck with particular care. As a result, the field shines like a mirror, and the details of the design stand out all the more sharply. With the delicate foliage of the Triple Maple Leaf, this contrast comes fully into its own. A coin capsule protects the sensitive surface from fingerprints and scratches. It is best to leave the coin inside it, as flawless specimens in Proof condition are especially sought after by collectors.

Triple Maple Leaf or Classic Silver Maple Leaf?

The Royal Canadian Mint launched the Silver Maple Leaf in 1988. Today it is one of the most famous bullion coins in the world. Both coins share the maple leaf theme and a fineness of 999.9. Otherwise, they pursue very different goals:

  • Mintage: The classic Maple Leaf is issued without a fixed quantity limit, in the millions. The Triple Maple Leaf 2027 is limited to 1,000 pieces.
  • Quality: The standard bullion coin comes in Brilliant Uncirculated, while the Triple Maple Leaf is struck in Proof.
  • Format: The bullion classic measures 38 mm, the Triple Maple Leaf 40 mm. This provides more surface area for a highly detailed design.
  • Focus: The Maple Leaf scores with a low premium over the pure silver value. The Triple Maple Leaf impresses through rarity, design, and collector's value.

In short: those who primarily want to build up metal weight should go for the classic. Those who want to hold a rarity with history in their hands should choose the Triple Maple Leaf.

A Series with Many Faces

Kettner Edelmetalle has expanded the Triple Maple design into its own little world. Alongside gold editions, there are colored, gilded, and holographic versions. All feature the same leaf side. The 2027 silver coin in pure Proof, however, presents the design without any additions. No color application distracts; only silver, light, and relief are visible. It is precisely this purist approach that makes it the foundation of any collection built around the Triple Maple Leaf. This ounce also makes a lovely gift for a birth, anniversary, or retirement — one that will be remembered for a long time.

Silver: A Collector's Metal with Substance

For thousands of years, silver has been minted into coins, traded, and passed down through generations. Cultures on every continent have seen it as a symbol of prosperity and prestige. Today, strong industrial demand adds to this: in electronics, solar technology, and medical technology, the white metal is hardly replaceable, while supply remains limited. Of course, silver also plays a role when it comes to inflation hedging and crisis protection. At the heart of this coin, however, lies the joy of collecting.

For private buyers in Germany, there is a pleasant side effect: profits from the sale of physical silver are generally tax-free after a holding period of at least one year. In addition, silver retains its physical properties for decades. This makes the coin a piece that can be passed on to the next generation with a good feeling.
