Phoenix Fire and Water 2026 – when two elemental forces merge into a rarity

  • Strictly limited: A very low mintage of only 100 pieces worldwide – there will never be more examples of this edition.
  • Growth opportunities: Very high value appreciation potential due to the strict limitation of the mintage and the lively demand for finished collector's editions.
  • Rarity: An extremely rare collector's coin that is hardly ever found in any collection.
  • Exclusive: This collector's item is available exclusively from Kettner Edelmetalle.
  • High-quality finishing: Several technical processes interlock – an elegant gold plating meets a brilliant color application.
  • Design: A phoenix with gold-adorned wings rises from blazing flames, flanked by roaring ocean waves; on the reverse, fire and water swirl together into a cosmic vortex.
  • Investment goal: A coveted treasure for connoisseurs, whose limited mintage carries considerable value appreciation potential.
  • Material / fineness: A full ounce of pure silver with a fineness of 999.9/1,000 – equivalent to 31.1 grams of fine silver.
  • Manufacturer: Kettner Edelmetalle, additionally finished afterwards in Germany.
  • Country of origin: Germany – issued with a face value of 20 dollars by the Republic of Liberia.

Fire and water. Two forces that have always excluded one another. On this coin, they don't. The Phoenix Fire and Water 2026 unites both elements in a single, glowing image, making it one of the most impressive editions that Kettner Edelmetalle has released this year for discerning collectors. Anyone searching for finished silver coins with genuine character will find exactly that here – with a mintage of only 100 pieces, which could be sold out faster than many would like.

✔ The myth of the firebird – told in an entirely new way

Hardly any mythical creature is as deeply rooted in collective memory as the phoenix. As early as roughly 2,500 years ago, the Greek historian Herodotus described the sacred bird, whose plumage shone partly golden, partly red, and which most closely resembled an eagle in shape and size. According to legend, it burns at the end of its life in order to rise anew from its own ashes. "Like a phoenix from the ashes" – this phrase is still known to almost everyone today.

The obverse picks up precisely this narrative and gives it a surprising twist. With wings spread wide, the firebird rises from a sea of flames, its body itself appearing to be made of blazing tongues of fire. To the left and right, deep blue waves rear up with snow-white spray, while a dark starry sky glitters above. Fine golden ornamentation runs through the feathers, and a glowing ring hovers behind the head like a halo. The inscription "1 OZ 9999 FINE SILVER 2026" sets a golden finishing touch.

✔ A vortex of embers and spray

And the reverse? It dares even more. Here, fire and water twist into a mighty spiral that inevitably recalls the Far Eastern principle of Yin and Yang. At the center glows a bright core, flames blaze all around with golden filigree tendrils, while individual phoenix feathers drift through the night. On the right edge is the denomination "20 DOLLARS", and below sits the small coat of arms of Liberia, understated yet present. The message behind it is as old as the myths themselves: opposites do not destroy each other – together, they bring forth something new.

✔ Finishing with precision – made in Germany

The base coin comes from Kettner Edelmetalle, and its finishing is carried out exclusively for us by a specialized company in Germany. With great precision, the coin is partially gold-plated: the reeded edge, the inscriptions, and the delicate ornamentation shine in a warm golden hue. An elaborate coloring process adds vibrant red, orange, and turquoise on top, making the flames and waves appear almost three-dimensional. The interplay of metal, color, and light turns each of the 100 examples into a small work of art. The manufacturer's reference applies to the coin, not to the finishing.

Rarity cannot be reminted. Whoever owns one of these 100 examples holds a piece in their hands that will never exist in large numbers.

✔ Why 100 examples make all the difference

A look at comparable phoenix coins shows just how exceptional this edition is. The colored Double Phoenix coin from the Perth Mint, part of the popular Chinese Myths and Legends series, was issued with a mintage of 5,000, while the Kettner Phoenix 2026 in Proof quality had a mintage of 1,000. Both are wonderful collector's items. The Phoenix Fire and Water, however, plays in a different league entirely: its limitation amounts to one-tenth or even one-fiftieth of these quantities. Similarly scarce in the Mythical Creatures series was, for example, the Majestic Phoenix 2025, likewise limited to 100 pieces.

Of course, those focused solely on pure metal value will opt for a classic bullion coin with a low premium. But those who wish to combine art, mythology, and genuine rarity in a single ounce will find in this rarity exactly the added value that standard mintages cannot offer. Delivery comes in a custom-fit capsule that protects the piece from fingerprints and scratches – ideal for safe storage in your collection.

✔ Silver – the solid foundation beneath gold and color

Beneath all this brilliance lies a full ounce of fine silver. This precious metal has accompanied humanity for millennia as a coinage metal and symbol of prosperity, and today it is also indispensable in electronics, solar, and medical technology. Supply remains limited, while demand is broadly diversified. Many investors therefore value silver as a building block for their inflation hedge and personal crisis protection – though with this coin, the collector's value is clearly the main focus. Good to know: in Germany, profits from the sale of silver are generally tax-free after a holding period of at least one year. And because silver retains its properties across generations, a piece like this can wonderfully be passed down to children and grandchildren.
