5 oz Silver Tuskegee Airmen 2021 – the grand finale of the America the Beautiful Series

With the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site issue, 2021 marks the end of one of the most popular silver series in recent minting history. This coin is the 56th and final release of the America the Beautiful Series, which launched in 2010. Anyone seeking silver coins with historical depth and an impressive format holds a true heavyweight in their hands here: a full 155.52 g of fine silver in 999 quality, minted by the United States Mint.

A design that tells a story

The obverse shows a young Tuskegee Airmen pilot, focused as he closes his flight cap. Above him, two P-51 Mustangs streak across the sky, while the control tower of Moton Field rises in the background. The inscription "THEY FOUGHT TWO WARS" recalls the dual struggle of these men – against fascism in Europe and against racial discrimination at home. The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African American military pilots of the U.S. armed forces and trained in Alabama. Surrounding the design are the inscriptions "TUSKEGEE AIRMEN", "ALABAMA", "2021" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM".

The reverse bears the classic portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan from 1932 – the same likeness that has graced the US quarter for decades. Also featured are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "LIBERTY", "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "QUARTER DOLLAR".

A giant among quarters

With a diameter of 76.20 mm, this coin is the largest quarter the United States Mint has ever issued – nearly twice the size of an American Silver Eagle. Its massive format makes it an eye-catcher in any collection and, at the same time, a substantial investment in physical silver. The edge bears the incuse inscription ".999 FINE SILVER 5.0 OUNCE".

The America the Beautiful Series

Over the course of more than a decade, the series honored 56 outstanding American sites: from classic national parks and national monuments to national forests, memorials, and historic sites such as this National Historic Site. Each of these large-format coins tells a piece of America's landscape and cultural history. The Tuskegee Airmen issue forms a fitting conclusion to this popular series, making it a particularly sought-after piece for completing an America the Beautiful collection.

Investment and collector's value combined

As the final issue of the series, this coin unites two worlds: it is a sought-after collector's coin and, at the same time, a solid premium bullion coin made of fine silver. Gold is humanity's oldest currency and has outlasted all others – and silver, too, has always been regarded as a proven tangible asset. Those who value precious metals as an inflation hedge and crisis protection will find in five full ounces of silver a tangible store of value that endures independently of banking systems.

A monumental design, a chapter of American history, and five ounces of fine silver – united in the grand finale of the America the Beautiful Series.
  • 56th and final issue of the America the Beautiful Series
  • 5 full ounces of fine silver 999 per coin
