Gold bars from C.Hafner

1 kg of fine gold, cast.A name, open to scrutiny.

Cast into the bar is the round stamp “MELTER · ASSAYER · C.HAFNER”: the one who melts the metal and the one who tests it. The house has carried the name C. Hafner since 1869.

Cast into the bar is the round stamp “MELTER · ASSAYER · C.HAFNER”: the one who melts the metal and the one who tests it. The house has carried the name C. Hafner since 1869.

The name

The C. stands for Carl.

In 1869, Carl Hafner carries on the sweepings works under his own name: C. Hafner. A reference from his apprenticeship values him for his “loyalty, honesty, love of work and morality”, in the words of his time.

Today, descendants of Carl Hafner run the house in the fifth generation; since 1995, Birgitta Hafner and her cousin Dr. Philipp Reisert have led it together. As its guiding principle, the house names the honourable merchant.

“We have a good name, but it only stays as good as it stands up to external scrutiny.”
Dr. Philipp Reisert, C.Hafner
  • LBMAOn the Good Delivery List of the London Bullion Market Association since 2013, for gold.
  • RJCCertified by the Responsible Jewellery Council to the Code of Practices and Chain of Custody, first in 2016, valid until 7 April 2028.

The assay

If it enters the house,it is tested.

In 1892 the Carl Dieterle assay office joins the house. The assay laboratory works with docimasy, according to C.Hafner the oldest known method of determining the fineness of gold alloys.

Every delivery is analysed. If it is melted down into a bar, that bar is drilled and the drillings are tested for their precious metal content. For the fire assay, a report from 2025 gives two to three days.

The laboratory is accredited by DAkkS as a testing laboratory to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, for determining fine metals in precious metal alloys, and it takes part in international proficiency tests.

The bar

A ch in a crucible.

The cast bar bears the round stamp “MELTER · ASSAYER · C.HAFNER” around the ch in the crucible. As an assay mark, it names C.Hafner as melter and assayer; this is how the LBMA list describes it.

Added to this are the lettering, the weight, the fineness and a number that the certificate on the card repeats.

C.Hafner calls melting and casting an important part of its DNA as a refinery.

The CertiCard

Once opened,the card shows it.

If the card is opened, the film turns cloudy, and it can no longer be resealed. Since 2015, C.Hafner has packed its bars itself.

C.Hafner supplies this bar in a CertiCard. According to the house, the authenticity and integrity of the packaging can be checked before opening; the certificate states the serial number and confirms the tested purity.

The card bears the seal “MELTER · ASSAYER · C.HAFNER” and “LBMA Good Delivery Refiner”. The print refers to the house, which is on the Good Delivery List for gold, not to the individual bar.

1kg Gold Bar C. Hafner: one kilogram of fine gold to protect substantial wealth

  • Investment goal: With this gold bar, you invest a large part of your wealth in a tangible asset that cannot be multiplied at will and therefore protects you against inflation.
  • Preserving value: One kilogram of gold preserves your purchasing power even as more and more money comes into circulation.
  • Protection: Against the effects of rising prices, recession and growing government debt, you rely on an asset that has held its ground for thousands of years.
  • Value density: a great deal of value in very little space, suitable even for small safes
  • Quality: cast, German-made fine gold with a fineness of 999.9/1,000

One kilogram of fine gold feels heavy in the hand, yet takes up surprisingly little space. The 1kg Gold Bar C. Hafner is intended for investors who want to protect a significant part of their wealth from currency debasement over the long term. It comes from a long-established refinery in Baden-Württemberg and offers you a concentrated inflation hedge in a single piece.

Why inflation hits large fortunes particularly hard

Inflation reduces the value of every unit of money to the same degree. However, the larger a fortune held in money, the higher the loss in absolute terms. When the money supply grows faster than the economy, savings quietly lose purchasing power. Gold, on the other hand, cannot be multiplied by any government or central bank, because its supply is naturally limited.

For retirement provision and for the next generation, this is a strong argument. Gold retains its physical properties over long periods and can be passed on as a whole without losing any substance.

Cast fine gold with clear markings

The rectangular bar with rounded corners is cast. In its upper section it bears the circular company emblem with the stylised letters C and H, with the manufacturer's lettering below. Weight and fineness appear in the centre, followed in the lower section by an individual number and a further round mark. This number is also recorded on the accompanying certificate of authenticity, so bar and certificate can always be matched clearly.

C. Hafner: a refinery that thinks in cycles

C. Hafner is a precious metals refinery from Baden-Württemberg known for recovering gold and silver. It makes its bars from recycled gold, meaning precious metal that was already in circulation. C. Hafner is also on the Good Delivery List of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), the trade association of the London precious metals market. For you, this combines verified quality with a responsible approach to raw materials.

Stored safely and discreetly

A single kilo bar replaces a whole series of smaller pieces. This simplifies storage, as a great deal of value fits into very little space, even in a small safe. At the same time, you can easily keep track of your wealth. Gold is traded and recognised worldwide, across borders and currencies. As crisis protection for large fortunes, a bar like this is therefore an obvious choice, especially as it is VAT-free as investment gold.

Five reasons for the 1kg Gold Bar C. Hafner

  1. High value density: One kilogram of fine gold concentrates a great deal of wealth in a compact bar.
  2. Pure material: The fineness of 999.9/1,000 stands for virtually pure gold.
  3. Clear matching: The number on the bar reappears on its certificate of authenticity.
  4. German origin: The bar was made in Germany and is brand new.
  5. For your heirs: Gold does not age and remains as durable after decades as on the first day.
