10g Gold Bar Valcambi: minted Swiss bar with a striking front

  • Investment goal: With a gold bar, you protect part of your wealth from the loss of purchasing power caused by inflation.
  • Preserving value: As a proven store of value, gold holds on to the real value of your savings, while paper money gradually loses purchasing power.
  • Protection: Rising prices, recession and high national debt weigh on savings; with this bar, you specifically strengthen your crisis protection.
  • Crisis protection: Ten grams of fine gold can easily be used as a means of exchange in times of crisis.
  • Origin: minted in Switzerland by Valcambi, with certificate of authenticity

Stamped vertically on the reverse, the lettering Valcambi Suisse names the manufacturer and its home. The 10g Gold Bar Valcambi combines this Swiss origin with a fineness of 999.9/1,000 and a format that is easy to store. For your inflation hedge, it is a reliable unit that you can supplement with further bars as you wish.

Square and assay mark on the front

In the centre sits a tilted, stamped square whose sides curve slightly inwards, which makes it look like a small cushion. Below it, the weight and fineness are shown horizontally, with the 10 g figure standing out larger and bolder. This is followed by a rectangle bearing the inscription ESSAYEUR FONDEUR, with which the manufacturer identifies itself as assayer and melter. At the bottom edge, a stamped serial number completes the design.

Why gold cannot be multiplied at will

Central banks decide on the amount of paper money in circulation, and there is no natural upper limit to it. The value of a banknote therefore depends above all on trust in the institution that issues it. Gold follows different rules: the earth's reserves are limited, and no authority can create additional metal by decree. Its value lies in the material itself and remains, even when doubts about a currency arise.

Gold in the reserves of central banks

It is remarkable that the very issuers of paper money rely on the precious metal themselves: central banks hold some of the largest gold reserves in the world and keep the metal as part of their currency reserves. They see it as a backstop for the stability of the financial system. With a bar of your own, you follow on a small scale a principle that the large central banks also heed.

Swiss manufacture with long experience

Behind the bar stands Valcambi from Balerna in the canton of Ticino, a company that has existed since 1961 and has long experience in bar production. As an LBMA-certified manufacturer, it meets the requirements that the London precious metals market places on its suppliers. Ten grams take up hardly any space; a safe deposit box at the bank is just as suitable as a safe at home. You acquire the bar as investment gold, free of VAT. If you keep it for longer than a year, gains from a later sale are tax-free for private investors in Germany.
