Some designs simply have to be held in your hand. This collector's coin is one of them: the phoenix rises from the fire, every single feather razor-sharply rendered, and the mirrored background makes the flames virtually flicker as you tilt the capsule. Because only 1,000 pieces were struck worldwide, this piece is a genuine rarity from the very first minute.
A design with millennia of history
The phoenix is one of humanity's oldest mythical creatures. At the end of its life it burns and rises anew from its own ashes – in antiquity it became a universal symbol of resurrection, immortality, and new beginnings. Legend has it that an egg remains in the ashes, from which the young firebird hatches after three days. It is precisely this notion of passing away and returning that carries the entire design of this issue.
The main side shows the bird in full size: standing upright on charred rock, its wings powerfully unfurled, surrounded by flickering flames. The inscription reads "PHOENIX" as well as "1 OZ FINE SILVER 9999". The second side moves in close – a portrait of the phoenix's head with a piercing gaze, alongside an elongated feather and fire once again. Added to this are the details "20 DOLLARS · 2026", the national coat of arms, and the inscription "Republic of Liberia". Anyone examining the details under a magnifying glass will discover new lines in the plumage each time.
"Ashes become fire, fire becomes life – hardly any design tells so much across 40 millimeters of surface."
Technical perfection in Proof quality
The Proof quality is considered the pinnacle of coin production: dies hand-polished multiple times, a mirror-bright background, and fine matting of the raised design elements. The result is a depth effect that ordinary Brilliant Uncirculated strikes cannot achieve. The purest silver is used, with a fineness of 999.9/1,000; the fine weight is 31.1 grams, i.e. a full ounce, with a diameter of 40.00 mm. The coin is delivered in a protective coin capsule – and should remain there, since fingerprints are the biggest enemy of Proof strikes. Manufactured in Germany by Kettner Edelmetalle.
Why the mintage of only 1,000 pieces makes all the difference
A comparison makes it tangible: classic bullion coins such as the Krugerrand or Maple Leaf leave their respective mints in the millions each year. The predecessor, Phoenix 2025, still came with a mintage of 5,000, while the Australian Phoenix edition by the Perth Mint from 2022 had a mintage of 40,000. Here there are just 1,000 – and no more. This very low mintage is the decisive difference between a bullion coin that can be reordered at any time and a collector's item that, once sold out, can only change hands via the secondary market.
- Mintage limited worldwide to 1,000 pieces – cannot be increased afterwards
- Highest minting quality for maximum detail sharpness and depth effect
- Official legal tender with a face value of 20 dollars (Liberia)
- Popular collecting theme: mythical creatures such as dragons, unicorns, and phoenixes
- Made in Germany – quality by Kettner Edelmetalle
- A fitting gift for any new beginning: a new job, a wedding, a birth, or an anniversary
Collector's joy meets precious metal
Pure investment-grade silver coins score points with their low premium over material value, but their design remains almost unchanged year after year. A strictly limited silver coin in Proof quality takes the opposite approach: it thrives on design concept, craftsmanship, and rarity. Both worlds have their place in a well-thought-out collection – this piece clearly occupies the numismatic side and complements series collections just as convincingly as a display case of mythological coins.
Then there is the metal itself. Silver has accompanied humanity for millennia as a coinage metal, has long been regarded as a store of value, and is traded worldwide as a commodity. Industrial demand is high in electronics, solar, and medical technology, while supply naturally remains limited. Its physical properties endure for generations – ideal for passing collections on. Anyone who also values inflation hedging and crisis protection will find in physical silver a tangible asset with intrinsic value. And: profits from the sale of silver are generally tax-free after a holding period of at least one year.
Secure your piece while the limited edition is not yet sold out. The firebird returns – but this year only 1,000 times.
