Low in the south.

Antares is an orange-red star and one of the brightest in the night sky. Right next to it lies the globular cluster M4, best seen in July.

In our latitudes Scorpius does not rise very high above the horizon.

The path of the sun

Twelve sections of a year.

Scorpio is the eighth of the twelve sections.

Seen from the Earth, the sun travels once around the sky against the stars over the course of a year, along the ecliptic.

The signs divide this path into twelve equal sections of 30 degrees each, counted from the vernal equinox point, the position of the sun at the start of spring. The constellations of the same names differ in size.

Because the Earth’s axis slowly turns like a spinning top, once in about 26,000 years, the vernal equinox point has moved by about 30 degrees since the Greek Hipparchus. Signs and constellations are therefore offset today by about one constellation.

  3. Très Riches HeuresIn the book of hours of the Duke of Berry, now in Chantilly, each month’s picture shows the two zodiac signs of the month at the top.

Zodiac sign Scorpio 2027, in gold.

0.5 g Zodiac Sign Scorpio 2027 – minted fine gold in the highest minting quality

  • Strictly limited: Only 1,000 pieces exist worldwide – a very low mintage for a coin of this kind.
  • Growth opportunity: The limited number of pieces meets a precious metal that is naturally scarce. This creates genuine potential for value appreciation, with the gold price forming its foundation.
  • Rarity with substance: Not a mere collector's item, but full-fledged investment gold with a personal touch.
  • Minting quality: Finished in the most elaborate Proof quality – mirror-like fields, finely matted reliefs.
  • Design: A sculpturally modeled scorpion with raised stinger against a sparkling starry sky, framed by the circle of the twelve zodiac signs.
  • Material & fineness: 0.5 g of pure gold in the top fineness of 999.9/1,000.
  • Manufacturer: Exclusive in-house minting by Kettner Edelmetalle.
  • Country of origin: Manufactured in Germany, issued for the Republic of Liberia with a face value of 25 dollars.

Passionate, mysterious, strong-willed. This is how the coincard of this edition characterizes the eighth sign of the zodiac. The 0.5 g Zodiac Sign Scorpio 2027 translates these qualities into pure fine gold. Anyone who thinks of this merely as a classic collector's coin is missing the point: at its core, you are acquiring physical investment gold, whose value is primarily determined by the gold price.

The design: stinger, pincers, and a sky full of stars

On the obverse, the scorpion's tail curves elegantly upward, its venomous stinger aiming aggressively forward. The powerful pincers are finely structured, with each segment of the carapace individually worked out. Stars twinkle in the background. Above it all, large letters spell out "SCORPIO," with the astrological symbol beneath in a small circle. The outer ring bears the symbols of all twelve zodiac signs, and along the lower edge the inscription "0.5 g 9999 FINE GOLD" confirms the weight and purity.

The reverse takes up the theme. A radiant sun star with a wreath of flames forms the center, with the coat of arms of Liberia displayed in its middle. Surrounding it, a zodiac wheel is divided into twelve fields. At the top are the face value "25 DOLLARS" and the year of issue "2027," and at the bottom the inscription "REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA."

Twelve signs – infinite stories. And a substance that has endured for thousands of years.

Proof: mirror shine down to the smallest detail

For the Proof finish, dies and blanks are prepared with particular care. The result: deeply mirrored background surfaces, against which the matted reliefs stand out in striking contrast. At a diameter of just 14.00 mm, this is true precision work. To keep the delicate surface flawless, the coin is protected inside a coincard. On one side, this shows the constellation Scorpio with the date range of October 23 to November 21, and on the other, the complete zodiac wheel.

Only 1,000 pieces – why the mintage matters

With a mintage of just 1,000 pieces, this edition is among the particularly limited gold coins in the Zodiac series. The number of pieces is strictly capped. This consistent limitation makes it a true rarity among small gold formats. A look at related products highlights its strengths:

  • Compared to the 1/200 oz Zodiac 2026: around three times as much fine gold (0.5 g instead of about 0.16 g) with just a fifth of the mintage (1,000 instead of 5,000 pieces).
  • Compared to a 0.5 g gold bar with a design: an official face value, year of issue, and the Proof finish. Those focused solely on the lowest premium per gram should choose larger bars – but those seeking fine gold with character and a strictly limited mintage will find exactly that here.
  • Compared to large ounce coins: A manageable amount is enough to get started, and your gold investment can be expanded step by step.

Investment gold in a small format

What matters most is the metal. Gold is the oldest currency in the world, valued as a store of value for over 6,000 years, and thanks to its intrinsic worth, it has never been worth zero. It is recognized worldwide, tradable at any time, and easily converted back into cash. Central banks hold it as a reserve, and many investors also value it as an inflation hedge and as crisis protection. Small gold coins like this one are ideal for building wealth in small steps – over the years, even small amounts add up to a considerable holding. After a minimum holding period of one year, profits from private sales are generally tax-free.

Give the gift of real gold investment

Birthday between late October and late November? Then give someone born under the sign of Scorpio real investment gold on their special day, instead of a fleeting gesture. It also makes a meaningful gift for a christening or coming of age, laying the foundation for wealth that can be passed down from generation to generation. Despite the personal occasion, you are acquiring full-fledged investment gold – minted fine gold, whose value is based on the gold price. Secure one of only 1,000 pieces of this exclusive Kettner in-house minting now.
