1 kg White Brass Flowing Hair 2026 – a numismatic legend in kilo format

  • Strictly limited: Extremely low mintage of only 999 pieces worldwide – there will never be more.
  • Growth potential: High appreciation potential due to the strict limitation and the continuing strong demand for kilo formats.
  • Rarity: Extremely rare collector's item with an impressive 120.00 mm diameter.
  • Investment goal: A collector's item that draws its appeal from the design's history, its format, and the very low mintage.
  • Design: The legendary Flowing Hair portrait of Liberty with flowing hair, framed by 13 stars and the year range 1794–1795.
  • Manufacturer: Issued on behalf of the Republic of Liberia, delivered with a certificate of authenticity from the Art of Coins Mint.
  • Country of origin: China – the issuing country is Liberia with a face value of 5 dollars.

Sometimes a single glance is enough. Anyone holding this collector's coin for the first time immediately senses why kilo mintages of this magnitude enjoy such a special reputation among enthusiasts: 1,000 g weight, 120 millimeters in diameter, a reeded edge that emphasizes the enormous material thickness – and a design that ranks among the most famous in the entire history of coinage. The piece is issued in 2026 for the Republic of Liberia with a face value of 5 dollars. But the decisive figure is the one on the certificate: a mintage of only 999 pieces.

Liberty with flowing hair: the design behind the legend

The obverse takes up one of the most iconic images in early American coinage. (cite index="19-1">The Flowing Hair Dollar was designed by Robert Scot, first minted in 1794 and issued again in 1795, before the design was replaced by the Draped Bust type in October 1795 – (cite index="24-1">Scot was the first Chief Engraver of the US Mint. (cite index="21-1">The 1794 Flowing Hair Dollar is regarded as the first dollar coin of the young United States, and top specimens still achieve auction results in the millions today.

This very aura is transferred here into an XXL format: Liberty in profile facing right, her hair in fine, flowing strands, above it the inscription LIBERTY, surrounded by thirteen stars for the thirteen founding states, and below the year range 1794-1795. Across a surface of 120 mm, the die-cutting unfolds a depth of detail that simply could not be rendered on a classic ounce coin – every strand of hair, every point of the stars, every pearl border stands out in relief.

The reverse: the coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia

The reverse shows the coat of arms of Liberia within a halo of finely engraved lines. (cite index="27-1">The coat of arms combines a coastal landscape, a rising sun, a sailing ship, a plow, a shovel, a palm tree and the white dove; above it is the motto "The love of liberty brought us here". (cite index="30-1">The ship refers to the arrival of the settlers, the spade and plow to the work on their own land. Around the edge are the inscriptions 1KG WHITE BRASS, the split year of mintage 20–26, REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA as well as the face value FIVE DOLLARS.

Prooflike, silver-plated, copper-based – what this means for collectors

White brass is a light, silvery-looking copper alloy. It is significantly harder than pure copper and correspondingly captures fine reliefs with precision. The additional silver plating gives the surface the cool, bright shine that comes so close to the historic silver dollar. In Prooflike quality, mirrored fields meet matte-satin relief highlights – a contrast that makes the portrait practically float.

A comparison makes the scale tangible: (cite index="23-1">the historic 1794 Flowing Hair Dollar weighed 27.00 g with a diameter of 40.00 mm. This kilo piece thus weighs roughly 37 times as much and measures three times the diameter. Compared to common one-ounce issues with five- or six-digit mintage figures, this rarity plays in a different league – because collector value arises where demand meets scarcity.

999 pieces for the entire world market: whoever owns one belongs to a very small circle. A closed limited edition cannot be reordered.

Who this piece is made for

For collectors who love designs with genuine history. For enthusiasts of large-format mintages who see a kilo piece as the centerpiece of a display case. And for everyone who deliberately chooses strictly limited issues instead of mass-produced goods. The included certificate documents the country, year of issue, weight, diameter, quality, and mintage – an important detail should the piece one day be passed on or traded.

As a gift for a special occasion, this mintage speaks for itself: a kilo of metal, a legend of coin artistry, a number that says it all. Brand new, in a case, with certificate – and insured as a value shipment on its way to you.
