This edition from the 2025 minting year combines a world-famous fairy tale motif with genuine gold. The real reason to buy, however, is not the image but the substance: this small, square coin contains 0.06 g of pure fine gold with a fineness of 999/1,000. The design is the personal touch, but the precious metal is the core of the value – and this value develops in line with the gold price.
The design: Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf
The obverse depicts what is probably the most famous scene of the fairy tale: the encounter between Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf. In the style of an old book cover, the words "Grimms Märchen" (Grimm's Fairy Tales) appear at the top in Gothic Fraktur script. Below, the girl with her woven basket and traditional dress stands facing the large, carefully hatched wolf. Conifer trees, gently rolling hills and a low-hanging sun frame the depiction, which, with its sepia appearance, is reminiscent of historical woodcuts and copperplate engravings. Along the bottom edge, the word "ROTKÄPPCHEN" is displayed in large letters, the whole scene bordered by a frame with floral corner decorations.
The reverse shows the national coat of arms of the Republic of Chad between a mountain goat and a lion, flanked by oak leaves and acorns. Below this are the face value of 3,000 CFA francs as well as the clearly legible minting details "999 Fine Gold" and "1/500 oz". As official legal tender, the coin thus carries a state-guaranteed face value.

The coin is delivered Brilliant Uncirculated in the elegant Proof finish, protected in a high-quality case with a matching certificate of authenticity documenting fineness and weight.
Why small gold coins make a compelling investment
Gold is humanity's oldest currency and, as a proven store of value, has outlasted every paper currency over thousands of years. Like all gold coins, this edition also represents a real, tangible asset. Gold has never had a value of zero, as it carries an inherent, intrinsic value. Small denominations in particular, such as this 1/500 oz, make it possible to enter physical gold investment in manageable steps – and over the years, many small amounts of gold add up to a considerable fortune that can be passed down from generation to generation.
As a scarce commodity with limited supply, gold has always been regarded as a reliable inflation hedge and robust protection in times of crisis (crisis protection). It safeguards against loss of purchasing power, is recognised worldwide as a medium of exchange and is highly liquid – it can be converted back into cash at any time if needed. It is no coincidence that the world's central banks hoard gold as a reserve: it is the silent anchor whenever confidence in fiat money wavers.
Giving investment gold as a gift – for any occasion
Whether for a birth, christening, wedding or Christmas: anyone who gives this coin as a gift is not giving a mere keepsake, but genuine investment gold. Despite the personal occasion, what you are acquiring here is minted fine gold whose value is tied to the gold price – a real asset that remains long after other gifts have been forgotten.
Gold has shone for thousands of years – and will not lose its shine in the future either.
