Fascination Universe Collection – seven cosmic highlights in gold and silver

A single glance at the night sky is enough to make us feel small. This is precisely the feeling captured by the Fascination Universe Collection: seven precious metal editions that bring galaxies, gas giants, planetary nebulae and European space travel into coin format. The set combines around 271 g fine weight of gold and silver – from the 5-ounce heavyweight coin featuring real diamonds to the tiny gold piece in a coincard. Motifs from our solar system and far beyond, each strictly limited.

The collection's contents at a glance

  • 5 oz Silver Extragalactic 2025 – Perth Mint, 155.52 g silver 999.9, antique finish, four hand-set diamonds, mintage of 1,000 pieces.
  • 1 oz Silver Saturn from Titan 2025 – Niue, 31.1 g silver 999, Proof, mintage of 999 pieces.
  • 1 oz Silver Mars from Phobos 2024 – Niue, 31.1 g silver 999, Proof, coloured, mintage of 999 pieces.
  • 1 oz Silver Jupiter from Callisto 2026 – Niue, 31.1 g silver, Proof, mintage of 999 pieces.
  • 20 Euro Silver Cat's Eye Nebula 2026 – Austrian Mint, 22.42 g silver 925, Ø 34 mm, Proof, mintage of 30,000 pieces.
  • Gold Ariane 6 Coin – Gabon, 1/1,000 oz fine gold 999, rectangular format, Valcambi, mintage of 50,000 pieces.
  • Gold Milky Way Coin – Republic of Chad, 1/1,000 oz fine gold 999, Ø 16 mm, Valcambi, design "MILKY WAY GALAXY".

Diamonds, wave-shaped minting, colour finishing: the highlights

Extragalactic – the Whirlpool Galaxy with real diamonds

The heavyweight comes from Australia. The extraordinary 5-ounce silver coin from the Perth Mint depicts the Whirlpool Galaxy (Messier 51), located roughly 31 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici, surrounded by the inscriptions "EXTRAGALACTIC", "23.58 KPC | 31 MLY" as well as the celestial coordinates. Four hand-set diamonds in pink, gold and white sparkle as stars within the spiral arms. Each piece was individually antiqued – so the appearance varies slightly from coin to coin. Mintage: only 1,000 pieces worldwide, face value 25 AUD, diameter 55.90 mm.

Three planets, three perspectives

The silver coins from Niue tell an ongoing story: following "Earth from Above" came "Mars from Phobos", "Saturn from Titan" and, in 2026, "Jupiter from Callisto". Each design offers a view from a moon toward its planet – the ringed planet Saturn as seen from Titan, the Red Planet from Phobos, the gas giant Jupiter from Callisto. Colour finishing, Proof quality, a diameter of 38.60 mm and a mintage of just 999 pieces each make this trio the heart of the collection. Anyone wishing to complete the series can secure all three years' issues in one go.

Austria's wave-shaped coin: NGC 6543

The 20 Euro "Cat's Eye Nebula" edition is the third coin in the Austrian Mint's "Beauty of the Universe" series. Flat at the centre, it curves outward toward the edge in several waves – a design device meant to evoke the pulsing of a dying star. The value side names "NGC 6543", the distance of 3,300 light-years, and the coordinates of the celestial object; the reverse carries a coloured interpretation of the nebula. Incidentally, the Austrian Mint's predecessor series was called "Fascination Universe" – so the name of this collection was chosen deliberately.

Two gold pieces from Valcambi

Small, yet genuine investment gold. Both gold editions come from the Swiss mint Valcambi and consist of 999/1000 fine gold. The Gold Ariane 6 depicts Europe's new launch vehicle at liftoff, comes in a rectangular format, and carries the title "Journey into Space" on its coincard. The Gold Milky Way Coin depicts our home galaxy with its characteristic spiral arm. Face values from Gabon (1,000 CFA francs) and Chad (3,000 CFA francs) make both official legal tender in their respective issuing countries.

Condition, packaging, delivery

All pieces are brand new. The grades of preservation vary: Proof for the Niue and Austrian editions, antique finish for the Perth Mint coin, and Brilliant Uncirculated for both gold coins. Detailed information on the respective condition can be found in the descriptions of the individual items. Packaging is equally varied – a case with a numbered certificate of authenticity for the ounce silver coins, a case with a certificate from the mint for the Austrian issue, and a blister card or coincard for the gold pieces. Delivery is provided as insured value shipping.

Designed for collectors and investors alike

Collectors value this set for its combination of diverse designs, colour finishing, special shapes and clearly limited mintages. Investors see another side: physical precious metal in hand, independent of third-party custodians, tradeable worldwide, and proven as a store of value for thousands of years.

Gold is humanity's oldest currency – it has outlived every paper currency and has never reached a value of zero. It is precisely this substance that lies behind the motifs of this collection.

As a scarce commodity, precious metal has traditionally served as an inflation hedge, preserving purchasing power when confidence in paper money wavers. Silver adds to this picture with its broad industrial demand, while gold contributes its millennia-old role as a crisis currency.

Collection or individual purchase?

  • Advantage of the collection: you receive the thematically matching editions in a single step – including the strictly limited pieces with mintages of 999 or 1,000, which individually often sell out quickly.
  • Advantage of individual purchase: maximum flexibility if only a specific design is sought – though this comes at the cost of a cohesive collection character.
  • Comparison with classic bullion coins: Krugerrand, Maple Leaf or Vienna Philharmonic score with high recognition and narrow trading margins. Collector's editions like these, by contrast, rely on rarity, minting quality and design history – two approaches that complement each other well.

Anyone who loves the cosmos while also valuing genuine precious metal will find both in this collection: narrative power and substance.
